Reviews of Acton Park, TAS

"Peace, quiet and fresh air"

I grew up here, and lived here for 17 years before moving to Victoria. Wow - I miss it! Peaceful, clean, and quiet. The blocks of land are a nice size and it's 20 minutes drive to the city (for Tasmanians, this is a long drive, but once you live in Victoria you realise it's not at all). Nothing I miss more than that fresh, clean air when walking outside the house.

Acton Park is a semi rural area, only in recent years has the subdivision started building up where there used to be horse paddocks, but this is still not enough to call it an urban area. Each block of land is about an acre which is about the minimum you'll find here, my family's is 2.5 acres.

Neighbourhood friendliness is pretty good. When I was younger we used to have neighbourhood barbecues and Christmas celebrations, in our area at least now that the children are older and some have moved away this doesn't happen as often.

The only real issue I have with the area is the lack of buses. From where I lived, I had to walk 30 minutes to the nearest bus stop (the buses only came once an hour), and to get to the CBD have to change buses at Eastlands, all together the trip takes over an hour. To get to uni was even worse!

  • Large blocks of land
  • Peace and quiet
  • Country Living

Not great for

"Anyone for a Round of Golf"

Stiuated next to the Royal Hobart Golf Club, Acton Park is a well-heeled suburb. Its semi-rural location makes it a perfect place to raise a family. Its distance from Hobart means that you can have the best of both worlds, the country life with all of the amenities of the city only a stone's throw away.

Great for

  • Country Living
  • Close to the city

Not great for

  • Cost of Housing
