Reviews of Battery Hill, QLD

"Battery Hill"

Battery Hill is a hidden gem that sits just behind Dicky Beach, because of these reasons the housing prices remain reasonable for this coastal town. Battery Hill is on the beach side of Nicklin Way, easy walk to the local beaches (incl a dog beach) and Currimundi Lake and cafes. This area is seeing an increase in families and is surrounded by great schools such as Currimundi Primary and Caloundra State High. There are plenty of parks and bike tracks, including a mountain bike track from the neighbouring suburb. It is also nestled right next to Caloundra Golf.
Caloundra CBD is 4km away.

"Missing Dicky"

We have just moved from Dicky Beach and I miss it. My partner and I used to walk on the beach every evening and the sand would change every day. In the mornings we would walk to the bakery and get the best bread on the planet and on Friday nights we would have fish and chips on the beach. Its such a lovely place to live and very close to everything. Dicky Beach is my favorite Sunshine Coast suburb.

"Paradise revisited on the beautiful Sunshine Coast"

Dicky beach is no doubt paradise for the over 50's, having said that it also a great place to bring up your children. The white sandy beaches are patrolled summer and winter. Best time to visit is from April to October. November through to March can still be very beautiful if you don’t mind the high humidity. The rain during this period keeps the place lush and green and us locals love it. The walking tracks are all within easy reach from Dicky beach to Moffat, Shelly and Kings beach. These tracks are amongst the best in Australia, well maintained with easy access to our magnificent beaches. There are some great lookouts where you may spot a number of surfers in the rolling waves. There are some excellent restaurants in the area all within the 15 minute walk. The Dicky beach area offers great living and holiday accommodation far away from the madding crowds. The area has a number of groceries stores with a few local shops such a butchers, restaurants, takeaways, bottle shop, hairdresser, Chemist and news agent with a local post office only a stone throw away. The other things I like about Dicky beach is the village atmosphere, buzzing during the day and it offers peace and Quiet after dark. The larger towns and the airport are all within the 20 minutes drive from Dicky beach. The local busses run every 15 minutes which is an extra bonus. There is a huge shopping plaza in Maroochydore, although I prefer to go to Caloundra markets and its shops, that is a real buzz on the Sundays and less than a 10 minute drive. Come and visit our beautiful region, tell a friend about your Dicky beach experience, but please do not tell the world let's keep this place that way it is. "Absolutely fabulous"!. That is my reason for wanting to live here.

"Dicky Name, Great Place..."

Dicky Beach got dudded with the name, but the location and vibe of this little townships are anything but dud. The beach is excellent for swimming, surfing and the local surf lifesaving crew are a good bunch. The SLSC does a wicked seafood buffet and while dining there I stuff myself on oysters, prawns and crab. There are some fabulous renovated beach houses here, but you can still see the odd fibro shack with a board resting against the outside wall. Relaxation is the key word and there's a definite lack of pretension here. There is a great camping ground right on the beach front if you like the tent life, or some excellent houses for holiday rental. The house prices here are more do-able than a lot of other places on the coast.

I have only discovered this little paradise "Dicky Beach" last year 2009. I loved the surrounds of beaches and the beautiful well maintained walking tracks along the coast. I have now decided to retire right in the heart of it all. I purchased a small block of land and will be moving into our new home at the end of this year. Being so close to the local shops which includes a butcher shop, small super market, a couple of take aways, news agent, chemist and hair dresser all nicely located opposite the caravan park at Dicky beach. Dicky beach is a place that is buzzing with friendly locals and very few tourist compared to other coastal area's in Queensland. There are plenty of places to stay and eat and when it comes to night life, there is none with the exception of dining out giving us folks here in Dicky beach area a nice peacefull sleep. What is also great about Dicky beach that you can jump on the bus and travel to major surrounding towns all within 10 to 30 minutes away and that includes the airport and major shopping centre, entertainments, cinema and markets. All what I can say that I have it all in my back yard such a nice place to retire or just for break away from the big smoke. Come and see for yourself, you will not be disappointed!

"A lovely little trendy beach suburb."

Dickies, as the locals call it, is a very laid back beach suburb. It used to be a bit scruffy but now there are some great little cafes and takeaways that are well populated and supported by locals and holiday makers alike.

There are not too many high rise apartments in the area, but a lot of the homes in the area are let for holiday rental. Straight opposite the shopping area is a very popular caravan park.

Dicky Beach is really a super place to take the family for a holiday, so friendly and relaxing. It is only a 5 min drive into Caloundra proper, so really there is everything here that you need.

The beach hosts a lot of surf carnivals and the area just hums when they are on.

Primary schools and the high school is not too far away so children can be quite independent when they grow up in this area.
