Reviews of Beecroft, NSW

"Unique but over priced"

Another overpriced suburb for the location. Usually full of old people but the new apartment buildings have sweetened the suburb up. I actually enjoyed living here as a young married couple but I could also see others getting bored. It’s a nice suburb but a small suburb. Overpriced for what you get

Looking for a home in Beecroft?

"Somewhat north for my liking"

You're better off going down south to places such as Ryde, Chatswood, Strathfield, etc. This suburb is relatively well serviced by public transport, has leafy environs which tend to go hand in hand with peace and safety, yet very scarce dining options and shopping facilities. The former is understandable, as this suburb is clearly not intended to suit a community like Marrickville or Newtown, but please I implore the council to invest in a huge shopping complex perhaps just south of the suburb, because nearby shopping precincts literally stretch as far as Hornsby or Eastwood.

"Re: Losing it's charm due to unwanted development"

Years ago it used to be lovely, leafy and peaceful.
Now, like many other areas it is starting to be affected by property developers looking to knock down and rebuild. It isn't too bad yet, but you can already see the way it is heading. The old centre on Hannah street is not being renovated or refurbished. It is being knocked down to give way to flats and the shops inside will be replaced. Trees that are protected and are required for a healthy environment are starting to be annhilated. The schools are still good in the area but it no longer has the village charm it once had.It is all building noise, large lorries and building works. We longstanding residents do not want to see it become open to high rise flats and overpopulated. Like some other people who are sad to see this happen, we are moving further out to ensure we maintain peace and quiet.

Not great for

  • Too much building going on
  • No traffic lights on itersection of Kirkham and Beecroft roads
  • Bus service on Murray Farm Road hardly existant

Beecroft/Cheltenham is still a very nice place to live. Admittedly there has been a lot of undesirable development in the area particularly around the village and along the trainline with loss of trees and aesthetic features. Once all the major construction sites leave the chaos will subside and the peace and quiet will largely return and I think Beecroft Village will retain some of its village atmosphere albeit with some apartments and a few more people about . It may take some years but the trees will grow back and the place will regain some of which was lost. A lot of residents feel deeply and care about the place and do a lot to maintain and improve the character and environment of the suburb. This gives me confidence in the suburbs future. As you probably know vast areas of the Beecroft/Cheltenham contain protected federation houses with great character and idyllic english style gardens. Knockdown and rebuild developers will have a minimum impact in those areas. However the western side of Beecroft containing predominately 1960/70 family houses maybe more susceptible to future development of the dreaded "Mcmansions" and plain townhouses with plague parts of sydney. As you said it is still alright at moment but I'm hoping it will not be too bad. For me the Bushland in Beecroft/Cheltenham is very beautiful, many of the houses and gardens have great character/charm there is still somewhat of a country feel to place even with all the development. A lot has changed recently but things can be improved.

"Beecroft/Cheltenham are the best suburbs in the Northern Districts"

Beecroft and Cheltenham are the best suburbs in the Northern Districts. With excellent access to the Central Coast by the F3; Blue Mountains and Southern Highlands by the M2 and M7; CBD by the M2. The train link via Chatswood has reduced travel time to the CBD. The public bus network allows you to travel in comfort anywhere with easy. Beecroft and Cheltenham are strategically located to access some of the best public, private and catholic schools in NSW, such as James Ruse Agricultural, Normanhurst Boys High, Epping Boys High, Cheltenham Girls’ High, The King’s School, Tara Anglican, Arden Anglican, Loreto, St. Benedict College, Barker College, Abbotsleigh and Knox. Beecroft and Cheltenham have maintained their relaxed country ambience and quaint hamlet shopping centre where you are known by name not by the dollars you spend. Beecroft and Cheltenham are both leafy suburbs and not under attack from developers wanting to build high density buildings. Both suburbs are superb for raising children and being part of a community.

Great for

  • Close to good schools
  • Sense of community
  • Large blocks

Not great for

  • Few villas for retirees
  • No Foxtel at the bowling clubs

"Not so central to access transport"

the suburb is not easily accessible for public transport, and you hit the busy beecroft road. Epping has become quite central now. The suburb is ok for people who like the bushy outlook and 15-20 trees around them, with insect noises in the night, and mosquitoes around.

Preeti a train every 15 minutes with a 35 minute journey + trains to Hornsby Strayhfield and buses elsewhere what do you want?

It is laso a 20 minute drive to Macquarie street

I agrree lets kill all the bugs and concrete it all!

It is not insects that bother us.If you have trees around then obviously you have insects. Cars race down Murray Farm Road at high speeds roughly every hour in the night screeching as they tackle the bend before Kirkham.Public transport is fine if you are within walking distance of Beecroft station. Sadly, I do not drive and live down the back of Orchard Road, so I agree transport is a problem. When I moved here I saw bus stops all down the road. I didn't realise that the bus service had been cut back.Bus stops does not mean buses.

"Hornsby Shire's most prominent suburb"

Beecroft is a lovely and leafy suburb without the hassle of the city. With the Chastwood Rail Link in operation, the access to the City is much easier than ever and Beecroft still claims a wonderful family atmosphere with beautiful parks, people, and houses. The neighbourly spirit is still there ( which Sydney has very well lost) and the schools (Roselea, Beecroft Primary, Cheltenham Girls, Arden) are one of the highest performing schools in Sydney. Beecroft Village is the highlight of this suburb, with beautiful buildings and a variety of shops. Beecroft definately has the village atmosphere that most suburbs fail to deliver

"Nice charming suburb"

Beecroft lies just north of Carlingford and Epping and is a high middle income area. It is about a forty minutes' drive to Sydney City and it has it is serviced by Beecroft Train station. The journey from Beecroft to Central Station takes about thirty to forty minutes.

Beecroft is home to a lot of professional migrants who have settled in Australia. It reflects its middle income inhabitants with nice houses and quiet streets. The houses are not the new type that you find in North Western Sydney, so there is a certain amount of charm about the houses here. Most of the houses here have character and do not look like mansions you can order out of a catalogue, nor are they there to show off. The houses actually look like individual homes which lends the suburb to high house prices.

"An Ideal Location"

Beecroft is an older suburb in Sydney’s north-west that has managed to retain the charm of large houses with well kept gardens. There are few unit developments in the area, though several nursing homes have been built for aging residents. Beecroft has the busy Beecroft Road running through it, which connects it to Epping and Pennant Hills. It has a public school and the convenience of a train station.

Beecroft, Cheltenham and Epping are by far the most desirable places in the Northern districts to own a home in. They are all such beautiful places.

I beg to differ. I can't wait to hack it out of here. I love the Eastern Suburbs, so find Beecroft and the surrounding suburbs to be depressing. Wait til you wake up the sound of the beach or go down to Bondi beach on a weekday morning at sunrise. That is beautiful. I want dog friendly beaches. I am stuck here, as I just cannot afford the Eastern suburbs.
