It certainly has potential with a new park and playground, new executive estate backing onto a promising shopping complex - wellington village.... However, clearly the council has no interest in providing too many services or facilities for youths as all they ever do is drive fast through and around wellington village, do burnouts, smash bottles, get drunk at the new park...
The new playground was also promising but all play equipment has been designed for children aged 12+ with a small slide and a swing the only equipment fit for "kids" - the slide is no bigger than a small backyard slide so basically, the playground is useless to children under the age of 5...
The bike path is derelict and falling to pieces... It is flanked by a drainage canal the entire way so no effort has been made to make it a pleasant or enticing journey for people to take... It is actually scary with so many nooks and crannies where teenagers hang out and either drink or graffiti walls...
The police couldn't care less either... Call them for assistance (when teenagers are throwing bottles at your house) and the response you get is "we're pretty busy, can't you take care of it yourself"!!! What a joke...
The council doesn't care, the police don't care, the teenagers have a field day and the young adults rule the roads... And also, there is absolutely no public transport so if you don't have a licence, forget about it...
Certainly stay far, far away if you have a family with kids... Perhaps further into the maze of streets might be a little more family oriented but write your life off if you do go in there... It's near impossible to get back out...
