Reviews of Brisbane Street, Berwick

"A long, meandering street with a mix of old and new homes with excellent outlooks across the hills."

Running eas/west, the street is in parts curved and in parts straight. At the peak of the hill - circa number 80 - the homes have sensational views to the north. Closer to the village the homes are on the typical block size, however there are many homes that are on a huga allotment, making the street very appealing. Well set back from the street, this is a street from an era long gone - as is the whoe area really. Know as 'old Berwick', it is north of the Pricess Highway (as opposed to 'new Berwick' which is recently-built housing estates to the south of the highway and alongside the Monash Freeway).
If you hate tall, large trees, this street's not for you. But if you love quaint coffee shops, head down to the westerly end to the Olde School House for a cuppa - gr8 atmosphere; and the kids can play outside while you watch. For those without kids, don't worry, you can have peace and serenity as well - the kids are far enough away!

"In The Heart of Olde Berwick"

Brisbane Street is in the heart of Olde Berwick, but has become a main road through this area. Most of the blocks are the large 1/4 acre in size, and this has led to a lot of townhouse developments in this street, as older properties are knocked down, townhouses will be developed. However, we are talking about the top of the range luxury townhouses that are being built.

Great location - walking distance to Berwick High Street - many restaurants have popped up over the last 5 years. Monsash freeway, Fountain Gate all less than 10 minute drive.

Houses are quite old - 30 - 50 years old, and generally have a lot of character.

This is a busy road despite the speed humps.

Many parks in walking distance - the newly created Pioneer Park (with coffee shop) on the old school site is on this street, and many footy clubs / ovals close by.

Definitely true about development's being high end around Olde Berwick. A recent duplex development has been listed at $2.2m per home! They have also introduced new legislation dictating that no subdivision within the Berwick Hoddle grid can be under 600m2 which is great for preserving quality and preventing greedy developers from trying to squeeze every cent they can out of a block.
