Cockatoo has it's own CFA station on Belgrave-Gembrook Rd manned by volunteers. They are extremely welcoming and graciously accept new volunteers. You can join as a volunteer firefighter or join the auxiliary. When I moved here 20 years ago I joined up and instantly made some terrific friends. This is one way to introduce yourself to this community
