Reviews of Dow St, Port Melbourne

"Amazing apartments, great location"

There are some very nice apartments here closer to the beach, mostly grey and similar. On the northern side of Graham Street there are also some stunning townhouses as well...although the road could be in better condition. There is some major redevelopment going on here as well, which makes it one to look out for in a few years time. Dow street is also extremely wide, and has plenty of on street parking. Location is hard to beat as well, being so close to Bay Street running right down the the beach, and also has great access to Edwards Park. Port Melbourne apartment living at it's best!

"Great location in central Port Melbourne"

Dow Street in Port Melbourne is a very wide street with great access to both Bay Street and Beach Street. There appears to be a certain level of gentrification occurring as well, with old townhouses being purchased and being done up. There still appears to be some bargains available in Dow Street with some of the townhouses clearly in need of some major renovation to catch up with some of the newly renovated ones.

Dow Street is very quiet with not much traffic, overall you can't go wrong with location!!

"Typical Port Melbourne Vibe"

Dow Street in Port Melbourne is your typical Port Melbourne street that has a few large multi-story dwellings at one end (closer to the beach) as well as classic single fronted houses. Some of the houses are renovated, consequently are quite expensive, however the street is mostly clean and quiet.
There are no restaurants on Dow Street, but given that we are only a block from Bay, that isn't a problem. The major attraction for me is that it is so close to the beach, and during the warmer months is a haven for many people seeking relief from the heat. There is always lots to see and that's what makes Dow Street so good.

Hey Hyph,

I was shocked at your score of 1\5 for StreetVIBE! Every person I know who lives in Port Melbourne says its a really friendly place to live, and the overall feeling is that is one of the best places to live in Melbourne. I plan on moving there this year, and I was wondering if you could let me know why such a low score for StreetVIBE?
