Looking for a home in Erskineville?

"Sunday ride adventure"

Bring together some friends, pick a nice Sunday afternoon and set yourself on this adventure. Meet in Sydney park, ride up Mitchell St, turn left at Erskineville oval, play a game of friendly soccer and head over for coffee at Bitton Café. Try and find a local auction to witness the buyer popularity. Ride west along Erskineville Road and sense the taste of the chilled village vibe, don’t worry you’ll come back. Turn right along Albert St, then northeast along Wilson street to Carriage works. Explore this nice little spot. Do the loop up to Redfern, back down through Henderson Rd via Eveleigh business hub. You should be hungry now and ready for Erko by evening. Head back to Erko Village and try this combination, Full Moon Thai, then Hive Bar followed by the Rose. Have fun! Happen to see a house you love?, let me know. "Jamie Zimmermann - Sales Agent Erskineville - Zimmermann Agency".

"Best suburb to live in"

Thus far, the best suburb I have lived in.
As a person of colour who moved from the racist torments of Sutherland Shire. Erskineville is a leafy green breathe of fresh air. Just a stone throw away from Newtown, Stanmore and Alexandria. There is a diverse mix of people in the area, people of different colour, gender, sexual orientation and beliefs. I love living in this area. close to amenities, 10-15mins to Sydney CBD. You really can't ask for better.

"once a great place now too crowded"

Sadly Erskineville has been turned into an overcrowded and miserable place. Too many yolos and people that hate each others proximity.
No parking and everyone is so edgy and no real sense of community and family. Once know for being a village and having a village feel now it is all but what it used to be. All these professionals that moved into the area have destroyed the spirit of erskineville.

"A once great suburb now spoilt"

If you like proximity to the CBD, good transport hubs, a village atmosphere, then Erskineville is for you. If you DON'T like heavy traffic, crowds, and increasing over-development, then Erskineville is not for you. Once a solidly working class suburb, the narrow streets with terrace housing along both sides were just not built to embrace 21st Century living. Everyone has at least one car these days and parking is a nightmare at the best of times. During peak hours traffic along Erskineville Road is so heavy it is often at a standstill and pedestrians constantly dart between cars. Heart stopping stuff. To make matters worse, developers have taken hold and multi-storey apartment blocks are springing up on blocks that once held one or two small terraces. This only adds more cars and more people to the already heavy traffic in local streets.

When I first moved to the area 25 years ago it was a quiet, cute area where you knew everyone in the strip of shops and they knew you. It had a strong sense of "village" and community. Thankfully, it still has its village look along the main street, but for how much longer is anyone's guess. It does have a couple of good pubs, but they're pricey. Now its just too busy for me and I'm exploring all the options for my own escape to the country.

I agree such a shame that Erko has been spoilt by developers! Way too crowded, polluted and noisy for me now. We're getting away from it before our kids lungs are full of car exhaust fumes!

Rentals in Erskineville

"Quiet pocket of Erskinville"

Erskiville village has wide street scape and a lovely heritage train station. It is safe, quaint & beautiful with trendy cafes, pubs, restaurants yet so close to buzzing NewTown. It reminds me of Leura Blue Mountain.

There are two distinctively different part of Erskinville. The quiet part is near Tom Bass Sculpture Studio (Railway Pde, Clara St, Ada Ln) with tree lined terraces and low rise warehouse apartments. With only 5 mins walk to train station and a 10-12mins walk to buzzing NewTown, we are spoiled with lifestyle choices. A local primary school is only 5 mins walk away near the train station. This part of Erskinville is in a safe family neighbourhood with small children playgrounds where you can mingle with other families.

However, on the other side of Erskiville there has been over development of high density apartments in the areas of Coulson St/Eve St/Pearl St.

Pick the right area, you will experience gorgeous village living lifestyle in a quaint country like neighbourhood. We love our part of Erskinville.

"Gett ing too busy with traffic and too many apartments"

Unfortunately this once lovely suburb has sufferered from over development. There are now too many residents squashed into this small suburb due to the amount of apartments being built. This has resulted in traffic jams, noise, pollution and overcrowding of schools and locals restaurants and pubs. There has also been an increase in crime in the area. Such a shame but I wouldn't choose to move/buy in Erko anymore!
