Reviews of Galston, NSW

"You want a strong community to raise your family? - Come and be part of it!"

Galston is situated just far enough away from the hustle and bustle, yet close enough to get anywhere quickly. Unless you are looking for a Westfield Mall, it has most everything a family could need.

You name it, it's here. Medical centre, shopping centre, bottle shop, indoor heated council run pool, sports fields, RSL Club, community health centre, community hall, skate park, cafes, restaurants, pizza shop, Scout hall, Guide hall, public school, 2 kindergartens/long day care centres, the renowned Galston High School, several respected private schools, Fagan Park, 10 minutes from Berowra Waters and the crowning glory, the most supportive awesome community spirit imaginable.

The village consists of generally large blocks with substantial homes, with a few well placed modern apartment type units. Some streets are complete with underground 3 phase power, and many homes sit on blocks large enough to utilise "on site" waste water systems.

Only a stone's throw from the village centre are hundreds of rural acreage properties. Growers and land lovers alike enjoy the open space and peacefulness Galston provides.

There is always someone in the community that either can help, or "has a mate" that can.

Why would you live anywhere else?

Great for

  • Community
  • Mainly large garden blocks 1/3 acre
  • So close but yet so far

Not great for

  • Lack of sewer
  • No government buses

"Escape to Galston"

Galston is a suburb on the North West outskirts of Sydney in the Hills District and the local government area of Hornsby Shire Council. It is situated to the north of Dural.

Historically, Galston is a suburb of orchards, nurseries and small farms. There are still lots of these but many people have moved to Galston to appreciate the peace and quiet of the semi rural community. Recently, modern brick townhouses and home units have been built near the Galston shopping village. There is also a new sub-division with several hundred brick dwellings. There are many five acre lots in the area and the houses on these range from older simple, weatherboard dwellings to large, substantial mansions.

There are some magnificent gardens in the suburb. For example, the gardens of the Buddhist Golden Wheel Temple on Galston Road are wonderful – well worth a visit when they are open to the public.

Spring is the happening time for events in Galston – there is the annual Galston Country Music Festival, the Galston SpringFest and Street Parade and the Galston Garden Club hosts an Open Gardens Weekend. Of course we can’t forget the annual Scarecrow Festival!

Galston is a well knit community and a good place to escape the hustle and bustle of areas closer to the CBD.
