Reviews of Gatehouse Street, Parkville
"residential stree adjacent to Royal Park"
Part of the urban conservation zone of South Parkville. Residential on the eastern side, fronting onto Royal Park. Backing onto Ievers Reserve at the rear provides open space and excellent rear access (with many residences effectively having a park at front & rear of the property). Street has heavy traffic at peak times, bur recent permanent truck ban will help. The relocation of the Royal Children's Hospital west from the corner of Gatehouse Street & Flemington Road will mean that traffic will no longer enter/leave the hospital via Gatehouse Street. This will reduce traffic bank up, but hospital rebuilding will not be complete until 2011. Meanwhile, Council traffic calming measures, e.g. chicanes at either end and possibly roundabouts at T intersections will slow and deter through traffic.
A quality, intact Victorian era street with houses all having views onto Royal Park.
