Reviews of Glen Tower Drive, Glen Waverley

"best part of Glen waverley"

This street is in one of my favourite parts of Glen Waverley- the Apletree estate, beautiful contemporary (many Architect designed!) homes built in ths 1970's. Most renovated or in very good repair. Interesting streetscapes, good access to parks, shops , the Glen, Eastlink and Monash freeways.
Upmarket without being snooty and an absence of young hoons and bogans that you will find in the newer areas further out.

"Great street, lovely neighbours"

Glen tower is a lovely street, Beautiful gums line the street whose houses were architectually inspired by arthur boyd in the 1960's. When the estate was origionally planned, it was to have underground power and no fences between houses. However this "modern thinking" was all a little too much too soon, and the cost of the land with underground power was too expensive for back then. Hence, it developed just like any other street in the 1960's
These days, traffic can be heavy - and often you get a few speedsters, nothing than a speed hump or 2 wouldnt fix. The houses on the west side of the street (closer to gallaghers rd) are probably a little nicer than those nth west past the round-about. Houses vary with flat roofs alternating with pitched roofs, and many of the flat roofs have since been converted into pitched to avoid the constant leaks. Most residents take pride in their gardens and nature strips, and neighbours will soon get on your case if the lawn is hitting 1 ft high (fair enough too). Having said that, the neighbours are wonderful, and help each other out when needed. There are always annual streetparties with many neighbours attending.
There is a park on the street which is smoke free(no idea how that is enforced) and also shepherds bush down the other end. a post box is also convenient. 2 different busses also stop at either end of the street. There are thousands of possums, so look after your roses, they will be eaten. Also many many cockatoos, and lorikeets and magpies which do swoop near the post boxduring breeding season.
The only think to complain about is the councils lack of street sweeping.

"High reliance on cars"

Sprawl suburb with a huge reliance on the freeway to access the city. Not a great deal of local activity.

I'm not sure how you say there is a high reliance on cars? There is a direct train line to the city in GW. Its a 40 min trip. Whether or not you choose to use it is one thing, but one can't say we rely on cars in GW. Busses abound also. PT is plentiful in GW.

"Excellent place for everyone to live."

Glen Tower Drive is the best street to live in. It is close to moajro shopping centres such as The Glen and Knox City. It is very close to public transport - bus stations at either end of the street and a short walk to Glen Waverley train station if you dont feel like catching the bus there. It is very close to many different parks and baseball ovals. It is also a short distance walk (5 minutes) to Jells Park and Shepherds Bush where there are many walk and bike tracks and the netball stadium.
I think everyone will enjoy living in Glen Tower Drive.

Great review, noticed you gave your neighbors 5/5 - what makes your neighbors so good?

MicMac

Neighbours are not noisy which is great - and they dont have any dogs that bark throughout the night which is a bonus.

MicMac, how can glen tower drive be such a good street when it's so close to such a major fairway -> high street road? the pollution (both noise and fumes) must be high .. which would be a problem for this area?

MicMac

High Street Road in glen waverley is not particularly busy. It is quite handy having high street road close to my street. I can not hear any noise from high street road at my house.
