I've lived on Gloucester St for ten years now, and it's a great little street. There's barely any noise from the main road, Atchison Road.
It's Walking distance to Macquarie Fields station, walking distance to the various schools & TAFE, and walking distance to the revamped Glenquarie Shopping Center. I prefer shopping at Woolworths Glenquarie than in Ingleburn. Ingleburn seems to have a dodgier crowd than Glenquarie nowadays.
The street itself is quiet due to the fact that it's a cul-de-sac. There's no walking thoroughfare at the end of the street, so no dodgy characters walking through.
In terms of Internet access, there's Telstra Cable available - which is as fast as the proposed NBN. ADSL Internet is quite unreliable here, being around 4+ KM away from the (Ingleburn) phone exchange.
Fitness options; there's an Anytime Fitness at Glenquarie, and a Campbelltown Council gym next to Macquarie Fields primary. The council puts in a real decent amount of money into fitness options. The swimming center, around 1.4KM away, has an indoor 20M pool, and a (currently under construction) fully rebuilt, heated, 50M outdoor pool. There's also a 1KM paved triathlon/walking track next to the swimming center, as well as tennis courts. There's also a cycleway from neighbouring Glenfield Station all the way to Casula Station that can be followed all the way to Olympic Park.
To get on the M5 by car takes about 5-10 minutes, depending on whether you go via Brooks Rd in Ingleburn or via Glenfield/Holsworthy and Moorebank Ave.
The houses are older, but the vast majority of them are well-maintaned and occupied by a mix of either pensioners or families. Property prices in Mac Fields are on the rise, and I'd recommend this street to anyone looking for a nice, quiet place to live that won't break the bank.
Excellent info. Yes... the only negative is dealing with the (false) bad reputation.
