"Safe Family Friendly Suburd"

Gwandalan is the perfect mix - it is on the lake for all the water enthusiasts, has a local gym, bakery, grocery, butcher, schools, public transport, walking tracks& plenty more. In the middle of Newcastle & Sydney. It is perfect for families with its schools & also people looking at retiring. Such a quiet safe suburb.

"Great Small Community"

Gwandalan is growing suburb, surrounded by water on the northern end of the central coast. There is a pre-school and a lovely public school. A good mix of established streets and new estate. An array of shops and facilities in different locations, which caters to all residents. Including cafes, a vet, automotive, service station, hair salon, dance school, convenience store, take aways, bakery, pharmacy & bowling club on the water.

Water enthusiasts love the access to the lake in different locations, with boat ramps fishing areas and parts for kids to play and family picnics. There is access to public transport. Real estate is affordable but has a variety of properties and locations for every budget.

You'll be glad you visited or moved to Gwandalan - it's a jewel on the lake.

"Gwandalan the secret suburb"

Gwandalan is a beautiful suburb on the lake, between Gosford and Newcastle, very affordable and set to boom a little.
Very child friendly and lots of community activities, a great public school, it’s own club and a beautiful drive in.

"A very friendly, relaxing, pretty suburb that is very affordable"

We have found Gwandalan a very friendly community without the feeling of people being overly intrusive. It is a suburb that offers peace and tranquility and is a very pretty area on the southern end of Lake Macquarie. It is also located on the eastern side of Lake Macquarie which means its only a short 10 minutes drive to local beaches and 15 minutes drive to areas of Swansea and Caves Beach. It is also within 15 to 20 minutes drive away from Lake Haven shopping centre and 25 minutes from Tuggerah Westfields and 25 minutes away from The Entrance. The closest train station would be Wyee which is about 15 minutes away. You will find a variety of people living in the area from retirees, middle age working people, young couples with or without kids to weekenders, many have relocated from Sydney that have been searching for a different lifestyle and are friendly. It is also midway to the hub of Newcastle but yet far enough away to have the friendly atmosphere that the hunter lacks in and also housing affordability in Lake Macquarie area is also much more affordable than the hunter and you do have to be happy with where you live, which is what makes the difference in the personalities of people within the Lake Macquarie area stand out. The downfall for the area is the public transport connections although there is a service to Lake Haven shopping Centre and Swansea/Charlestown shopping centre.

"A great place to raise a family!"

Gwandalan is a unique little place nestled on the shores of beautiful Lake Macquarie. It is a peaceful, friendly suburb with a lot of young families. People greet you in the street and all the shopkeepers are so relaxed and amiable. My partner and I moved here because we wanted somewhere close to Sydney yet far enough away to be affordable. Your money certainly goes a long way up here compared to Sydney! I knew I could tolerate the daily commute to Sydney for my work for as long as it took to find suitable employment up here. Fortunately, it took just a few months but now I have now secured work less than twenty minutes away which I am so happy about. It may take you less time than that..
The lifestyle here is fantastic. You can stroll down to the lake for a walk, swim or a fish. If you like boating or kayaking, you'd be in heaven here! The nearest surf beach, beautiful Catherine Hill Bay is a ten minute drive away. National Parks, stunning coastline and lots of attractions are all very close. Major shopping centres are not too far either.
I feel it is a great safe place for kids. Lots of happy children can be seen. There is a school, childcare, medical centre and dentist in town too. If you want to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, are sick of working so hard to afford the inferior, stressful life of the city, you should come up here and take a look!
