Reviews of Holland Park, QLD

"We love HP!"

We moved to Holland Park around 12 months ago and love it. There are enough restaurants, cafes and bars along both Holland Road and Logan Road to keep us entertained and good bus access into town or South Bank (only ~6km away) if you're after a bigger night out.

Still plenty of good sized blocks (600sqm+) with a real mix of heritage listed queenslanders, post-war and modern homes. Up towards Cav Road many of these are on elevated spots that catch great breezes and city or suburban views.

Demographics are predominantly young families (Holland Park Primary and Cav Road are both well regarded and there are a number of parks
including Mott, Glindemann, Seville and Whites Hill Reserve in the area). Plenty of empty nesters too who presumably like the location so much they've never moved. Holland Park seems to be less popular with students or young singles/couples than neighbouring suburbs Coorparoo and Greenslopes, due to Coorparoo Square and Stones Corner amenities and the higher concentration of apartments/unit dwellings around these amenities.

"Best of Both Worlds"

We have been living in (and loving) Holland Park for nearly 3 years. Location can not be beat being less than 15 minutes to the CBD yet in a quiet, leafy area. You're also an equal distance from both Carindale and Mount Gravatt Shopping Centres. You've got just above every major shop at the homemakers centre on Logan road which now boasts a Bunnings which already has been really helpful! We are on the Southern end of Holland park which means it takes us less than 5 minutes to get onto the M1 heading south which is a huge help for my Husband who's office is past Springwood and I work freelance so could end up anywhere. I never have issues with long commutes as heading south is always against the traffic, and you are so close to the city going north is a breeze. The few little strips of shops scattered around the suburb are being rejuvenated with little cafe's and great coffee which are helping build the community feel. I can't speak to the schools and parks (DINKs), but as a professional couple this suburb offers the best of both worlds. We are currently renovating our house knowing this suburb will be our home for a very long time.

Great for

  • Easy access to M1
  • Quiet
  • Close to Garden City and Carindale and local shops
  • Fantastic local coffee shops

Not great for

  • Slow Internet

Rentals in Holland Park

"Beautiful Homes great schools , leafy and quiet"

As a real estate agent I get to see many homes and talk to a myriad of people and it never ceases to amaze me how popular Holland Park is , those that live here don't want to leave , which of course makes my job harder trying to find homes for all the people that want to move here. I mean it's no surprise it's quiet, safe, with such a beautiful mixture of old Queenslanders or Post war timber homes ripe for renovation set on large blocks and wide leafy streets.
I highly recommend this suburb and am a little disappointed it's not higher up the rankings

Great for

  • Close to Garden City and Carindale and local shops
  • Close to good high schools
  • Great retail precinct

"One of the most searched suburbs"

Being one of Brisbane's most searched suburbs in real estate says alot about what this area has to offer. With great facilities for education (private and public) and located in a southern retail corridor this suburb offers convenience along with lifestyle. There is a great mix of property throughout this region from entry level property to stunning luxury residences, it also shares one of the largest postcodes on the southside 4121 with other beautiful areas like Holland Park West and Tarragindi. Definitely one that should be on your shopping list!

"Age of local properties"

I have worked in Mount Gravatt East since 2006 and I happy to share a few of my findings. I see a few different areas within the suburb that when comparing prices should be separated.

1.) Between Cav Rd, Pine Mtn Rd, & Creek Rd is "Carindale Estate". Typically homes in this area are of brick contruction and are constructed between 1980 & 1990. These are great family homes and have 4-5 bedrooms, 2-3 bathrooms.
2). Homes withing a few hundred meters of Nursery Rd. Homes in this area typically were built around 1970 and have the brick bases and timber "post war" style homes or a whole brick construction. Most are 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom. Some along this strip have very nice views and even city views.
3) Homes within 500m of Logan Rd. Many of these are built in the 1960's and will sell for a little bit more than the average home because of their elevated position and views. Most of these will have a deck and will be 3 to 4 bedrooms and 1-2 bathrooms
4) Homes between Creek Rd & Broadwater Rd - The typical Mount Gravatt East home was constructed in the 1960's on 24 perches or 607m and has 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, is of weatherboard construction with hardwood floors and is supported on cement stumps. Many have received renovations over the last 5 years to update kitchens, bathrooms and decks.

The typical buyers purchasing in the area are between 25-35 years old and rely on public transport or a closeness to the city for work. Public transport is very good! Hope this helps?

"Floral St"

Quiet, friendly neighborhood within 20mins to the CBD in peak hour. Public transport services are excellent, as is general amenity to several large shopping centers. When we were buying we looked long and hard at most suburbs on the southside and are yet to find a suburb that is as convenient, leafy and still affordable as Mt Gravatt East.
