Wedge Island is an island in South Australian waters located within the island group known as the Gambier Islands near the entrance to Spencer Gulf. It is the largest of the Gambier Islands, covers an area of about 10 square kilometres and is partly privately owned.

There is a lighthouse at the south-eastern end, and highest point, of the island. There is an airstrip on the island as well as a jetty. The island is not permanently inhabited, but has buildings used for holiday accommodation and as a base for local and offshore recreational fishing. It is also a dive site.
Perfect for the bird & wildlife appreciates with the island boasting a variety of bird life & Southern hairy-nosed Wombats and the endangered Brush-tailed Bettong has been introduced to the island for the purpose of conserving the species.

The island has plenty of interesting history too - Named in 1802 by Matthew Flinders, the island was originally settled as a farm for breeding horses by the British Indian Army. Over the following 130 years, the Island was home to various agricultural activities, such as sheep and cattle grazing along with wheat cropping.
During World War II, Wedge Island was occupied by the Royal Australian Air Force as a radar station, and a bunker was constructed near the lighthouse located at the south-eastern end and highest point of the island.
