Hornibrook Esplanade is the gateway to the Redcliffe Peninsula and to all the fabulous places to see, visit and live on the Peninsula. Although it is a main road coming stright off the bridge from the freeway, there is unrestricted views of the bay just across the road wirh swimming and picnic and boating facilities right at your doorstop. Pelicans are often seen ,and we have even named the park across the road Pelican Park. There are buses that travel right along Hornibrook Highway and the walk right along the whole length of the foreshore is a dream. Properties here are very, very reasonable and if Hornibrook Esplanade was in Sydney or Melbourne would be in the multi million dollar price range with these views and facilities and so close to the centre of Brisbane and International Airport.There is a mixture of houses old and new ,flats old and new and the area is in the process of being " found" so to speak. We have always said it is the best kept secret in Qld.The road though can be hectic on weekends due to the seaside appeal and daytrippers who come in ,but you do get used to it .It is a main road so it is not as easy to know all the neighbours intimately apart from the immediate next door ones in our case and we are away at work all day, however because people walk a lot due to the good weather and the environment there is always a nod and a smile freely given and received by most people I have encountered when walking the dog.
Hornibrook Esplanade hugs the waterfront you can continue on to drive right round the peninsula. Should you feel like lunch or a swim there are many places to stop and enjoy.This peninsula is one of the most beautiful and accessible places to be and live. It is only 20 -30 minutes on the freeway from the centre of Brisbane and the International airport with a new bridge which will vastly improve the traffic flow.
There are many private and government schools of various faiths and the area caters to families from youngsters to seachangers to senior citz. We have our own big Hospital, great shopping centres and businesses so everything you could want is here on the peninsula.Public swimming pools and sportsgrounds and clubs abound etc and yes we have turned out many Olympic Champions, actors and of course singers..The Bee Gees started their career right here at the famous Woody Point hotel just round the corner from Hornibrook Espanade.
