Which are the best areas for a young family in and around Wollongong?
We are expecting a second child and want to move out of Sydney and head south for more open areas and more affordable living. We have heard that areas like Helenburgh, Figtree and Shellharbour are good? My Husband will be commuting to Mascot. Thanks!

Figtree is a great family suburb to live in. It has great schools, a convenient shopping centre with Coles, Woolies & K-Mart (24hr). There are plenty of parks and safe footpaths, plus it has easy access to the freeway for commuting to Sydney. I've lived in Figtree for 15years and I've previously lived in Sydney too (Kensington, Roselands and Sylvania Waters) and I'd never move back. There is a range of good options for homes of various sizes & prices to suit your needs.
