Reviews of Larne Grove, Preston

"Larne Grove - A great place to be."

This is a great community street. Located just on the Thornbury side of Preston, this group of residence find themselves in a excellent part of town. Its quite and safe. A small street where we look out for each other. We have even won the City of Darebin Good Neighbourhood Awards several times. It is walking distance to High Street to access trams or many of the cafes and restaurants now developing in this retail precinct. Trains are also close by walking to either Thornbury or Bell Street Train station.

Residence in this street are house proud. We have very little movement of selling in the street and therefore most of us have been residing in the street for 10 years or more. We are like family. Sometimes a little disfunctional like any other family but at the end of the day - we all care.

You have severval Primary and Secondary Schools to select from and shopping is local and you are spoit for choices. You can decide to grocery shop local, head down to the Preston market or try the fruit and veg markets around the area. It is a convenient drive or tram ride to Northcote Plaza or drive to Northland or Doncaster Shopping Centre or a quick dash into the CBD.

As the street ends with a park, its a good opportunity while walking the dog or watching your children play on the swings to catch up with another neighbour and talk about your day.

The street celebrates several activities throughout the year. The footy tipping comp is a major and competitive one but all in good fun. It has been operating for the past 8 years or so. We also gather for a christmas party in December (including an appearance from Santa), start or end of day light saving bbq in the park along with any other excuse to catch up. Someone wheels their bbq down, and all you need to bring is a chair, blanket and your goodies. Its always a great afternoon.

It can be a fun street.
