Reviews of Maughan Road, Mount Eliza

"A good baby-boomer road, but not for those unsteady on their legs!"

Generally south-facing, with views across Moorooduc Plains and some bay views. Several houses have steep driveways, and taking out the wheelie bins on wet days can be treacherous! Looks out onto a lovely bush area, which sadly is privately-owned and likely destined for carving up into housing development as soon as the owners can con-vince the shire that it would be "in the interests of the neighbourhood" or something - a haven for birdlife and fauna, though frequented by off-roaders, trail bikers and dumpers of rubbish. Within a half-hour walk to Mount Eliza shops and good schools, as well as a corner shop up the hill and good veggie shop close by. The lack of night-time entertainment in the area for the great unwashed makes it a good refuge for ageing baby-boomers, although some neighbours on Brighton Crescent can be inconsiderate late revellers and let their dogs bark during the day. Very little crime, what there is has usually been done by thrill-seeking bored teenagers out to vandalise and impress. The well-maintained grassy sports fields at Emil Madsen reserve are in regular use, with the car park prized by night-time speed freaks who like to practice their motor racing. The Mornington railway operates regularly on Sundays, with the mini "Puffing Billy" usually in sight from most houses.

Have you been to Dromana drive inn, Restaurant at Arthurs Seat with a good look out to Mornington Peninsuala? I love that side of the city. I drive on bay st and up to Portsea many times and enjoy that drive. East link might help a lot for commuters in that area. Fishing trips from Ray beach and Port sea are really best. Christmas festivities in Ray beach is worth visiting.
