Chinese New Year in Melbourne.

So many events are taking place in in and around Melbourne for Chinese new year, I have noted down some of the activities that are taking place.

Good View, Good Fortune at Eureka Skydeck. 6th-12th of Feb.
The skydeck is situated on the 88th floor, so this place is considered very lucky in Chinese tradition. There shall also be Australia’s largest illuminated Dragon Head on display in the skydeck.

Chinese New Year at Fed Square
So many events shall be taking place at Fed Square over the new year season. such as…
Chinese Food Market - self explanatory, but they shall be serving many varieties of traditional chinese foods.
And
Culture Kaleidoscope 6/7th of feb. - A celebration of Chinese culture with activities and workshops.
As well as.
Chinese New Year Light Celebration - A massive light display tieing Fed Square, Southbank and Docklands. Fed Square will have a massive illuminated Chinese fan.

Year of the Monkey Experience
Head down to Melbourne Zoo and have a meet and greet with Squirrel Monkeys throughout the month of Feb.

Dragon’s Awakening Ceremony
Parading the Dragon through the streets of Chinatown, starting off on Little Bourke Street. The parade and festival starts at 10am till 10pm on Sunday the 14th of feb.

There are a number of events on at Crown celebrating Chinese New Year 2016. Including fireworks on the riverwalk at 9:45 on Feb 6 and The Hawkers' Bazaar with food stalls, music and art running 5-7 Feb https://www.crownmelbourne.com.au/entertainment/lunar-new-year/lunar-new-year-at-crown.

The Lunar Markets will be on at Harbour Esplanade Docklands 4-14 Feb to celebrate Chinese New Year, with pop up food stalls and music.

The Hotel Windsor does a Chinese New Year Eve Banquet (Feb 7) and Oriental influenced Afternoon Tea runs 8-22 Feb.

There's always a lot happening in Chinatown too during Chinese NY. Like traditional lion dance blessings, roaming street performers etc.
