Reviews of National Street, Leichhardt
"Great family life style and the most convenient place to live in Sydney - easy commute and lots of great food."
National St is a hidden jem, it is in the often forgotten part of Leichhardt near the Maraket Place Shopping centre.
The shopping centre is 200 metre walk away as well as the surrounding cafes, restaurants and shops, Norton and Haberfield are 2 km and 1 km respectively - the culinary capital of the inner west! Norton St Gracer and the world famous AC Butchery (the original) are all walking distance.
Public transport wise - 100 meters to Parramatta Road(no noise) so you get a huge amount of buses and there are three train stations within walking distance, Petersham, Lewisham, Summer Hill.
City West link takes you either over to Bondi or to the city or over the bridge. Victoria Road takes you to the North and M5 takes you west - very easy.
The famous Dog park in a 1.5 Km walk with Bones Cafe where you get Pupppachinos for your pup, next stpe is the arbour foreshore and the Bay Run at about 2 km. There are two very good gyms within 1Km radius, and Leichhardt aquatic centre - fantastic is about 3-4 and the Market place centre - has Aldi, Woolies, Target and specialist grocers and delis and coffee purveyors.
It does get some plane noise but the traffic noise does not exist.
The street is the friendliest I have lived on and the end of year party is not to be missed. Last year there was tight rope walking, majic, home made lemonade.
