Are young single people living in Noosa?

Im 28years old and a nurse. I plan to move up from Melbourne. Finding a job in your hospitals is hard. Also I have been told, young people are leaving because its hard to find jobs there is this true?

Noosa is not for singles anymore , great if you are retiring or have small children , I would look at Byron , younger population , alot more entertainment gold coast just up the road for work or Lismore Hospital

Hi MelbourneAmy.

My parents are living up in Noosa. There's mostly retirees or rich people who have holiday houses, up there.

Noosa is very very expensive. But .. it's also the nicest place IMO along that part of the QLD. There's a very good reason why it's expensive :P

So what do younger people / younger families do? they are finding homes south of Noosa along the Sunshine coast -> it's waaay more affordable there. Peregian Springs has some great new land / land+packages going for sale there. Of course, there's also lots of rental opportunities also.

But .. i'm hearing more and more that it's pretty hard to get work up in QLD now. So i would be cautious and try and plan as much as possible, before you leave Melbourne (I'm from Melb, also).

That said, I'd love to live along the sunshine coast! great lifestyle. great weather. schools are fine and the kids get lots of beach time, as part of their curriculum !

Hope this helps .. would love to hear some feedback about what you do .. and if you do move up .. how it turns out!

Hi MelbourneAmy, it is a wonderful place to live, and a terrific place to raise a family. PureKrome is right about being more affordable in Peregian Springs, but you can also find pockets of Noosaville close to the hospital that are reasonably priced (to buy). The only real work locally for you would be the Noosa Hospital, or the nursing homes.

But there is a new hospital opening or just opened at Kawana - but you would want to live around Kawana which is much further south down the coast.

A lot of young singles have left the region to get work in the mines or elsewhere, but not everyone! It's not lights out yet. :) There are also people just like you moving in each week. Join some local community groups and you will meet heaps.

All the best.

Alex - how long would it be to drive to the Hospitl @ Kawana, if someone was living in Noosa and was thinking of working down there?

It's nearly 50km from Noosaville. Depends on traffic on the Sunshine Coast Motorway but from 40 minutes to hour or so. About 10kms more on the Bruce but similar time give or take 5-10 minutes. And if you are working shift work, probably better to live close, IMHO.
