"Why live in Sydney ? Enjoy the Central Coast"

Owned a house in North Gosford for 16 years and have had both friends and family rent or live at the property.
Its a great leafy suburb and a stones throw from Shopping Centres, Train, Main Bus hub, Hospital and Schools. The bonus, you don't need to own a car if you live on the city side of Henry Parry Drive, The suburb has large blocks of land that can be sub divided for medium density housing for the astute buyer. The suburb has improved massively since I first purchased in 2006

Looking for a home in North Gosford?

"Hidden gem on the coast"

I’ve lived in North Gosford for 8 years and really love it. I live on The Outlook which is a peaceful street with great neighbours and is surrounded by bushland. It’s only 15-20 minutes to numerous beaches, 5 minutes to Gosford train station, 10 minutes to the M1 and has a huge variety of shops within 5 minutes yet feels like you’re in the country away from the hustle and bustle. Gosford has undergone lots of positive changes over the past few years and is has great facilities for kids (The new water park) and has great cafes and restaurants with more to come.

"Quiet suburb, amazing people, not great council facilities, but nature and peace at its best!!"

I have shifted to my new home in this suburb few weeks back with my family. Sceptical at start, I gained lots of amazing experiences regarding this suburb and surroundings. Coming from crowded Sydney, this place is like coming to holiday destination which I love. Nature at its best here with hills surrounding, water front nearby. People are amazing and welcoming. Did not notices any bad experiences as specified in other reviews. Its hidden pocket near Gosford CBD. Train and other public transport is walking distance, but be aware of hilly treks every day. All shopping facilities and grocery shops nearby. Erina fair, one of the biggest shopping centre, is just 10 mins drive. Amazing beaches are just 15 mins drive. Valleys, and national parks are just drive away on other side. Lifestyle at its best here. Council facilities though are not so great with no footpaths at lot of places. overgrown grass surrounding streets and not that great roads either. But, this is not much priority for me and things will definitely improve over the years as more developments are coming up. Overall, I am loving it and enjoying this place, still exploring.

"A special pocket of nature"

North Gosford is a peacful, family suburb with plently of nature and wildlife around you. I commute to Sydney 5 days a aweek and being 5 mins from Gosford train station makes this very managable. The private hospital side of Nth Gosford is more 'family friendly' than the other side of Henry Parry Drive which seems to consist of more hig density housing. Lots of amenities right around you with great shopping options (coles, Aldi, Wollies) a short drive either way to Gosford or Wyoming. Beaches 15 mins drive with no traffic and great bushwalking and hiking on your doorstep. You dont move here for the nightlife or bar scene ( there isnt one) but if you like open space, lots of native birds, wildlife and easy, relaxed living, you will like North Gosford. We moved here from Sydney and were considering Umina, Tascott, Green Point, Bensville amoung others and couldn't be happier with our choice. We are close to everythign we need and have beautiful beaches a short drive away.

Great for

  • Close to major train station
  • Bush Setting
  • Very safe and friendly
  • Only 1 hour from Sydney
  • Close to amenities
  • Very affordable

Not great for

  • No gutters and paths in most streets
  • Need to own a car

Rentals in North Gosford

"Hidden gem and nothing like Gosford."

The area I live in (Orinda Ave) you cannot fault,it's quiet and leafy. The only thing I'd say is one the whole the housing is quite dated there are however many houses in the area being renovated. I've lived in this area for the past 3 years and haven't experienced ANY of the negative comments on this review forum. We moved here from Terrigal (Ash Street)- and believe me Terrigal although was next the beach and a lovely place during the day was the noisiest place I've ever lived in (all night long parties) North Gosford is also is a very convenient location for Sydney and the beach lifestyle the coast has to offer.

Great for

  • Close to beaches
  • Only 1 hour from Sydney
  • Close to amenities
  • Neighbourhood spirit
  • Very affordable

Not great for

"Country-like feel close to Sydney"

We made the move from Sydney nearly 2 years ago - and have had none of the problems mentioned by previous reviewers. I have not seen kids roaming the street at night, nor do we feel unsafe. We have a beautiful house that would cost triple its value if we bought it closer to Sydney. Our neighbours are very friendly and we are very close to shopping centres and direct train to Sydney. It also is super quiet with abundant bush views and natural life - we often wake up to a kookaburra sitting outside our window!

Great for

  • Very affordable
  • Neighbourhood spirit
  • Bushland views
  • Close to beaches
  • Only 1 hour from Sydney
  • Close to amenities

"Used to be a really nice place"

Once North Gosford was a very nice suburb. Green, leafy, nice mix of people, nice houses etc but now it is starting to become a semi condensed housing type of complex. Alot more townhouses and complexes are being built or have approval to be built with that you start to lose alot of the leafy green outlook there once was. With condensed housing unfortunately it also attracts transiant lower income earners who do not care about their environment, allow there children to roam the street at all hours of the night unsupervised, vandalising parts of the suburb randomly. We are close to the beaches, not that far from Sydney etc. You definately need a car to live in Nth Gosford but after living here for many years I have noticed that its changing alot and definately not for the better. Nth Gosford seems to be a suburb where the resale value of a house drops more considerably than other suburbs and that is a shame. It could be (and once was) a very nice suburbbut unfortunately it has changed and not for the better. If you are a professional on a decent income and have decent morals, do not move to Nth Gosford.

Great for

  • Close to beaches
  • Only 1 hour from Sydney

Not great for

  • Not a safe area
  • Need to own a car
  • Low income earners
  • Uncontrolled groups of children
  • Very dark area at night

"Nice peaceful area"

I lived there for 15 years, in 3 different parts of the suburb. I have never once had any of the troubles the previous reviewer had. I assume they may have been having a bad day when they wrote their review. The suburb is safe ( you see people/ families walking there dogs at all hours). The suburb is practically 5 mins from any of the local shopping centres and around 10 mins from Erina Fair. The beach is about 30 mins away. Its a great suburb and nice and quiet with a bush background.

"Nice to feel away from it all but still close to amenities"

I do actually agree with both reviews that are currently here for North Gosford. I am personally very happy that I do not live within a complex of Units or Townhouses as those places within Noth Gosford have definately changed alot over the years and do now attract low income earners with lots of kids squeezed into 1 place. I also think that the area is nice and green with alot to offer if you live in a house here.

Have lived in North Gosford for many a year and have seen alot of things change around here. Alot more townhouse type complexes around nowadays which do seem to attract some undesirable people but most of the people and neighbours around here over the years for me have been great and I do think that living in a house that isnt attached to others makes life more comfortable. People in general around my neighbourhood have been very friendly, not overly nosey and great neighbours.

Its a nice and green area, traffic isnt that bad (apart from around the Pvt Hospital during the week), its not far to supermarkets, shopping malls, beaches and restaurants. North Gosford doesn have alot of those things itself to offer but nothing is very far away. Whilst the bus service can be good during the week I would personally recommend owning a car if living in this suburb.

If you are thinking of moving to North Gosford buy a house and not something in a complex, enjoy the space and fresh air, trees and your neighbourhood.

"North Gosford - NOT a place for people with style, common sense or respect."

Living in Jarrett St in Nth Gosford within a complex of 35 townhouses. Would NOT receommend this to anyone. Horrid place to live, very low income demographics, 6 kids to a 3bdrm townhouse, no control over the renters so do NOT spend your $ on buying a place here (as we foolishly did). We are now looking for a nice house with a nicer demographic. Lots of unsupervised children creating local issues, no parking around the private hospital through a week day. Could be a really nice area if people controlled/supervised children, took some pride in the appearance of their places and were generally of a higher demographic.

Great for

  • Close to amenities
  • Close to beaches
  • Only 1 hour from Sydney

Not great for

  • Low income earners
