"Diverse Suburb & Friendly Village Atmosphere"

I have lived in several suburbs around greater Hobart but this spot is my favourite because it is safe, close to all vital services, within walking distance to everything, full of the best eateries and shops and has the best retro style theatre in town which shows amazing art house films. The Italian Pantry is fabulous for all my foodie needs such as pasta, cheese, chocolate and artisan bread and there is also the new Hill Street Grocer two minutes from my door step. There are numerous bottle shops, schools, medical centres, hotels and boutiques. The mix of people is very diverse which makes for an interesting melting pot. My husband and I can walk to all the local restaurants in five minutes and then we can just walk home after a great night out. Perfect place to live because the car is optional.

  • Great cafes and restaurants
  • Foodie paradise

"Well Rounded North Hobart"

North Hobart is a vibrant suburb that forms the gateway to the north of Hobart City via Elizabeth St. Known for its vivacious nightlife with classy cafes, bars, and eateries in the Elizabeth Street “Restaurant Strip” it’s a haven for young professionals, and those who like close access to the city buzz. The beautiful State Cinema built in 1913 is a favourite and makes for a great night out after or before a meal with friends. There are many beautiful historic buildings including some great examples of Victorian Italianate architecture, particularly in Church st. The old Edwardian North Hobart Post Office still exists in its original form. The suburb is home to the prestigious Friends School as well as Elizabeth College and the old North Hobart oval hosts State League Australian Rules Football games.

"Charming and cool"

I lived in North Hobart for 2 years whilst I worked at the Royal Hobart Hospital. The street I lived on was basically entirely inhabited by the medical community.
I loved living in North Hobart- it has awesome cafes and restaurants, charming houses built in the early 1900s and I walked to work every day.
The only down side was that I couldn't afford to buy a house in this suburb.
Highly recommend for young professionals. Such a lively and cool place to live.

"Not for grumpy old men"

Great spot to live if you aren't bothered by late night parties, drunks screaming in the street at 1am, car burglary, car theft, graffiti, public urination, hoons and teenagers.

"Home of nightlife"

North Hobart is one of the major social hubs of Hobart. The main street is a strip of fantastic restaurants, cafe's and pubs and very popular. To live there you probably better like quaint houses on tiny blocks, but it is totally worth it when you can just walk out to all that is on offer in North Hobart
