"One of the best family-friendly riverside suburbs close to Hurstville!"

I have lived in Padstow for 13 years and I have enjoyed it very much.

Padstow is an established riverside suburb with many families staying in old and new duplexes. There are very few apartments, leading to a LOW crime rate in the suburb. I love the connectivity: if I catch the train from Revesby, I can literally reach the CBD in 25 minutes. That's amazing!

I have noticed that Padstow is a safe community in parts due to its village atmosphere and people genuinely caring for their own kind. The area is attracting more young professionals who enjoy the train line into the CBD!

Padstow is very good for young families because of its proximity to Hurstville. Driving to Hurstville is a mere 15 minutes, whilst house prices are value-packed given that houses near to Hurstville often tend to sell for 2+ million dollars.

As a result, Padstow has a lot of wealthy migrants who enjoy riverside living and a safe village atmosphere.

I would certainly recommend Padstow to any young professionals looking for a great riverside suburb with low crime rate or wealthy families who want to live close to Hurstville.

"Walk to everything"

I've been living near Padstow North Public School and have been having a great experience overall. The suburb is walkable - you can walk to Coles, Woolworths Revesby, Max Parker Aquatic Centre, Bunnings, Muslim Brotherhood gym. Even Bankstown Shopping Centre is reachable on foot if you're keen for a longer walk. I rarely used my car and just walked everywhere which I enjoyed a lot.

Playford Park is nearby and offers some activities for everyone, and also a place to meet other parents and find friends for kids. Padstow Library runs some events for kids, too. There's a swimming learning centre for kids. Really, a great place for kids and again, you don't need to drive anywhere, just walk.

There are enough quiet streets where you can just wander around on your own or with a pram.

The cons of the suburb are - there's noticeable pollution and noise from M5. Grease from car exhaust fumes builds up on porch tiles and windows quite quickly. There is some through traffic in the suburb and some streets are affected.

There are a lot, really a lot of revving cars and motorbikes with modified loud exhaust pipes. Literary every 20th car driving past would be very loud. It's the whole Bankstown area affected by those hoons. They would even rev their cars next to cafes around Padstow station to disturb the peaceful existence of everyone.

"Padstow - the little secret suburb."

Padstow is a friendly suburb, trainline into the city ( 30 minutes ) and to Liverpool and a well run bus line that goes to the Shire. Close to National Parks and also has a great community spirit. Shops and cafes are always busy and staff know customers by their first name. We have a number of schools in the area that have dedicated staff and principals, both primary and secondary schools. Local Clubs support Anzac Day and lots of community activities, The highlight of the year is the local carols at Playford park followed by a spectacular fireworks display. Lots of local businesses have stalls on the night and its great to catch up with friends and neighbours over a wine.

"Central location with great schools & transport"

Central location with an easy 30 minute drive or less to many Sydney landmarks such as the beach, the city & major shopping centres such as Bankstown, Liverpool, Miranda, Parramatta & Macarthur.
Located on the T8 train line you can get an all-stops train to the Airport or the City. There are major bus-stops that can also take you to the Shire & through-out the area.
There are many school options, including Padstow Park, Padstow North, Padstow Heights, St Therese & Caroline Chisholm.
There is a metro Woolworths, but a short drive to a Coles & Woolworths located in Revesby. Many restaurants & cafes in the main strip.

Rentals in Padstow

"One of the best South Western Sydney suburbs."

Lived in Padstow and in Padstow Heights since 2014. Lovely little community not far from the amenities in Bankstown or Hurstville. Fairly decent sized suburb that's affordable by Sydney standards, with train and bus access to the city, Campbelltown/Liverpool area and buses to the Shire, St George, Bankstown and beyond. Crime rate is moderate, experiencing the occasional "sketchy" individuals wondering the main areas at night, but usually are not trouble. Have had robberies and murders occur since I've lived here, robberies nearby including rummaging through our car has occurred. The occasional street races across Henry Lawson Drive and the other major networks that go through Padstow can be irritating however. But, I have not once felt unsafe or uneasy wondering these streets at night, and these incidents are seldom and do not pose a threat to those who exercise basic common sense walking by yourself at night. Beautiful parks, friendly neighbours and locals, truly one of the best suburbs in an area known for the opposite. Padstow and Padstow Heights will truly surprise you! I love living here. 2211 represent! :)

"Near Canterbury Bankstown and St George border"

The only undesirable place to reside in here in Padstow would have to be north of the South Western Motorway, in which case you would be compelled to access your amenities via Punchbowl, which in comparison to Padstow, is... not good.

"Horrible"

Worst place I have ever lived! Horrible atmosphere, terrible neighbours, high crime rate! Driving always tail gating you and beeping at you when you’re doing the normal speed limit!

"Perfect Padstow"

A village atmosphere shopping centre where shop keepers still know a lot of customers on a first name basis!!!, Padstow offers a variety of restaurants, cafe's, banks, medical centre's and virtually all local services are available.
This originally was a very traditional working class suburb that has transformed itself and continues to be an excellent location to raise a family, live a life and enjoy everything that comes with it.
Located within 30 minutes of Sydney CBD ( outside of peak ) the peninsular suburb is surrounded by the Georges River, National & Local Park's, a combination of Primary schools with direct access to Menai, Bankstown, Liverpool and the St George Districts.
