"Noisy city fringe living"

SUMMARY: The area is fantastic, the street is noisy. Would thoroughly recommend the area for couples. Families should look to the Toxteth end of Glebe to the north, if they can afford it.

PROS: Great convenience of having Glebe Point Rd, parks, waterfront walks and Broadway just 10 minutes walk away, and at a longer walk Newtown (20 min), Pyrmont (25 min) and the city (40 min); Excellent lifestyle simply by virtue of the fact that parking isn't great in Glebe and you're *encouraged* to walk everywhere; Array of great dining along Glebe Point Rd and to a lesser degree Ross St and St Johns Rd, something for all nationalities and all price ranges; Well serviced by public transport (although the cost of the Light Rail makes it of limited practicality); Good markets at Glebe Primary School every Saturday; Leafy, picturesque suburb

CONS: Bridge Road itself is very noisy - cars travel down it too fast and the terraces either side create a noise funnel effect - you may want to consider this if renting or buying on Bridge Road; Little sense of community outside of the public housing estate; Safety becomes an issue at night in certain areas of Glebe, particularly around Broadway and Wentworth Park; Crime increases south of St Johns Rd, north of it I personally haven't had any issues (touch wood); Although plenty of bus lines run through Glebe they all take about 30 minutes to crawl past Central and up George St; Suburb is understandably extremely expensive to rent or buy into.

* Please note the pointer on the map should be about half a km south west.
