Reviews of Rye, VIC

Editors Choice

"It this was overseas you'd flock to get there."

Between a surf-lover's ocean and a blue water bay with a north-facing beach that is as safe as any in the world. Cafes and ice-cream shops line the main street. A playground sits in the foreshore along with enough space to play soccer or host a mass barbecue for hundreds plus a carnival. The roads drift back into hills with incredible views. Quiet in the shoulder months enough for quiet introspection whether you're a writer, a painter, a beachcomber or just want to walk your dog in solitude. Vibrant in summer when the beaches come alive with colour. Always somewhere to stay; there's no lack of motel, B&B, private houses to rent or camping ground accommodation. Four op-shops (count them) for cheap and cheerful supplies of everything the holidaymaker or permanent resident could glean for next to nothing. Did I mention the locals are friendly?

All that and the property prices are just about the lowest within an hour of Melbourne.

"Beautiful Beaches"

Located under an hour from Melbourne, Rye is a wonderful town with some amazing beaches.
In summer it is a thriving place and is very popular with campers on the foreshore as well as holiday makers.
There are some fabulous shops, cafes and restaurants in the township of Rye along with all the necessities like Woolworths, Post Office, Chemists, petrol stations and pub.
There are some amazing beaches in Rye along the bay side as well as at the ocean side. Gunnamatta is poplular with the surfers and the bay is popular for families.
I would recommend Rye to anyone who is looking for an affordable beach house or a seachange within a commutable distance to Melbourne.

"Rye is Peaceful, Relaxed & surrounded in a bush like ambience"

And not to mention the surf can be unreal! I lived/worked here for a while and absolutely loved it! the only thing I couldnt rave about was the cold weather and a little lack of nightlife, but if you like Victoria and the weather but also enjoy peace & quiet THIS is the place for you! The realestate here is also very good value!

"Beautiful town with bushlands and ocean views"

Situated on the Mornington Peninsula, 85km from Melbourne, Rye is a small town of some 8,500 residents. It is best suited to retirees, though families seeking the stunning surrounds of the Victorian bush and seaside would enjoy living in Rye too. Local attractions include service clubs, a summer carnival and a couple of golf courses, but the town also boasts an Aussie Rules football team and spectacular views across the ocean and up t Arthur’s Seat. A popular vacation spot, especially among students, Rye has an average property value of $300,000 and is nestled between Port Phillip, Bass Strait, Blairgowrie and Tootgarook.
