"Beautiful beach side suburb"

Just 20 mins from Perth CBD is Scarborouogh and this is one of the best beaches on the West Coast. Living here is like being on holiday every day. From here you can walk to many of the other city beaches including the topless beach and a pet friendly beach. The area offers great activities especially water s[ports such as swimming, surfing fishing, windsurfing etc or you can cycle, fish or just enjoy the sights. There are many sporting associations to join with most sports being catered for. There are numerous restaurants and cafes as well as takeaway and fast food outlets. You can shop till you drop with an amazing array of specialty and boutique stores and with easy reach of the larger shopping centres of Perth. There is plenty of nightlife here with clubs, bars and live entertainment venues. There are primary and secondary schools here with TAFE and University campuses not far away Public transport is good with buses running to the city at frequent regular intervals. Medical centres and good fully equipped hospitals are within a short distance as are specialists and allied health professionals. Unfortunately, living in a great place like this will cost you as property prices are rather high and although there is plenty of rental accommodation those prices are on the steep side as well.

"One of the BEST Beachside Suburbs!"

Nestled along the stunning coastline of Western Australia, Scarborough is a vibrant community, renowned for its beautiful beaches, active lifestyle and an array of amenities that appeal to both residents and visitors alike.

With a strong sense of community, there’s always something happening that brings everyone together, from the Scarborough Sunset Markets, to outdoor yoga and fitness sessions, surfing lessons and even cultural festivals throughout the year.

At the heart of the suburb is the gorgeous Scarborough Beach, where white sands and clear waters are at your disposal, perfect for morning dips, afternoon swims, or watching the sunset.

The foreshore boasts excellent cycling and walking paths, perfect for a leisurely stroll, bike ride or use of the convenient hire E-scooters. Numerous parks and grassed areas provide the perfect spot for picnics, barbecues and gathering with friends and family- particularly on Sunset Hill (but get there early to snag the best spot for sunset!)

Along The Esplanade you’ll find a buzz of activity with various cafes, restaurants and bars, open during the day, and as the sun sets, the area comes alive with a buzzing nightlife scene, offering a mix of dining options, lively bars and more relaxed venues for those seeking entertainment.

The iconic Scarborough pool offers a unique swimming experience, allowing you to take a dip while overlooking the expansive Indian Ocean, or take part in their swimming lessons and outdoor fitness classes.

Scarborough is well-served by local amenities, including grocery stores, boutique shops, gym facilities, parklands, and fantastic cafes and eateries scattered throughout and in neighbouring suburbs. Westfield Innaloo Shopping Centre is just a short drive away and is surrounded by a wide array of amenities. Nearby Karrinyup Shopping Centre also offers an extensive range of retail, dining, and entertainment options.

Families with children have various local schooling options to consider, such as Scarborough Primary School and Deanmore Primary School, as well as the nearby Newborough Primary School, Doubleview Primary School, St Mary’s Anglican Girls School, Hale School, Churchlands Senior High School, and more.

Perfectly positioned in the northern coastal corridor of Perth, Scarborough is well-connected throughout public transport links, including buses and nearby train stations, making it easy to access the city and other surrounding suburbs. (Tip: the 990 bus goes all the way from Scarborough Beach into Perth Bus Port, with numerous convenient stops along the way including Glendalough Train Station)

Scarborough offers a diverse mix of housing, from modern apartments, to humble villas and charming family homes. Catering to a range of budgets and lifestyles, Scarborough is an attractive suburb for renters, first-home buyers, upsizers, downsizers, investors or for whatever stage in you’re at in your property journey.

Whether you’re a beach lover, an active outdoor enthusiast, a foodie who loves trying all the local hotspots, a family looking to put down roots, or simply seeking a vibrant and dynamic lifestyle, Scarborough has something to offer for everyone!

Our local favourites include: Il Locale Scarborough, General Public Food Co, Toastface Grillah, and Livid Skate Café.. to name a few!

"Coastal Gem"

Scarborough is a vibrant coastal suburb that offers a unique blend of natural beauty, outdoor activities, entertainment and a relaxed coastal lifestyle. One of the most attractive features of Scarborough is its stunning coastline. Scarborough Beach is the star of the show. It's a hub for water sports enthusiasts, including swimmers, surfers and kiteboarders. The beachfront esplanade is perfect for leisurely strolls and offers fantastic views, especially during sunset.
Scarborough's amenities include cafes, restaurants, bars, and shops along the bustling esplanade; the public swimming pool, skate park, playgrounds and the recent addition of the public electric scooters add a fun element to family outings and yet another method of transportation.

Beyond the beach, Scarborough is surrounded by natural beauty. Trigg Beach provides excellent snorkelling and diving opportunities. Trigg Bushland Reserve offers hiking trails and a chance to connect with nature.

"Just the best location for sun, surf, lifestyle and entertainment"

I have lived and worked in and around Scarborough for decades and wouldn't be anywhere else. The lifestyle and adventure for both adults, teens and young kids is unmatched. There is so much to do both in and around Scarborough - whether it's a day at the beach, dinner and drinks along the esplanade, taking an electric scooter for a spin or heading next-door to Karrinyup Shopping Centre for a movie, shopping or a round at Holey Moley.

"Vibrant and trendy neighbourhood."

I've been living in South Scarborough for several years. I'm a keen surfer, professional working in the city, have 2 kids and a wife that loves running along the coast.

Being able to walk 500m to the beach, for $600,000 is a great deal.

"Not for professionals or families"

Whilst the area is close to Scarborough beach, the Mitchell freeway and public transport, it has a continuing problem with anti-social behaviour. One third of houses in Scarborough are rentals, predominantly housed with young trades people, with associated problems, especially with noise and parties. A friend of mine purchased a unit to rent out, and it was completely wrecked by the tenants.

Scarborough beach is not generally safe on the weekends for families with young children, with significant low socio-economic anti-social groups driving in to Scarborough beach from Perth's inland suburbs, causing noise and crime. The area has real problems with traffic on the weekends. High rise apartments are continually being approved by the local council to block your ocean views. If it is the beach lifestyle you are after, try Trigg, North Beach, Karrinyup or City Beach.

I have lived in Scarborough for nearly 40 years and have never experienced this anti-social behavior you mention. Absolutely love where I live. I have looked up and down the coast to see if there was better places to live many times over those years and haven't found it yet.

"Laid back living!"

I love being able to walk to the beach, parks, and live in a quiet south scarborough location. I would recommend not hitting the "front" in the height of summer, head 1 or 2 beaches (brighton or the dog beach) of the main drag. South Scarborough has quiet streets, loads of parks, and a relaxed feeling. Loving the move from the Western Suburbs!

"The northbridge of the coastline."

Great place to live in if you don't mind drunk people fighting, police sirens all night long, and naked surfers at the car park in front of your kids. Not the best place to dinning out, too many idiots going around at night. There isn't any good restaurant anyway. Too much traffic and very noisy, especially at night.

You recommend this suburb for gays and lesbians because you think we like to fight and get naked? Judging from your use of the English language, you're either uneducated, or (forgivably) not from Australia.

goodlifelover is correct, and isn't claiming gays "like to fight and get naked". I moved out many years ago because there wasn't a great emphasis on educational quality in the schools - some of the parents were more interested in pot and Jack Daniels, so it's not the teachers I'm blaming. Rentals getting trashed was rather common. Hopefully everything has improved in my absence(?) Quite a good beach though.

"Living in a holiday atmosphere"

I've lived in Scarborough for the past 22 years and absolutely love it. Being so close to the wonderful Scarborough beach makes me feel as if I'm on holidays all the time. The water's a gorgeous sparkling blue, the sand's as white as I've ever seen anywhere, the shopping centres are all close, the few cafes and alfresco eating could be better...but the gorgeous sunsets...well, you'd pay good money to travel and have a holiday in a place like Scarborough. On the downside, we have a stifling City Council which seems to lack vision and works at a snail's pace with upgrading the beautiful foreshore. They seem to be very moneygrabbing with exorbitant Council Rates etc yet are very restrictive and extremely slow to allow Scarborough to develop to its full potential of being a wonderful people friendly place with more cruisy alfresco cafes and shopping. Instead, I think, we can expect more high rise apartments to block the waterviews and fill their coffers with maximum rate payers!

"Beachside Bliss"

Having moved to Scarborough this year from the Western suburbs I must say I've been blown away by how lovely it is. The luxury of being able to wake up and wander down to the beach for a quick dip before I start my day is amazing. The main downfall with Scarborugh is the fact it becomes bogan central on summer weekends as kids from the inner suburbs flock to the beach. However they can be easily avoided by walking a couple of 100m north or south of the main beach.
The only other issue is that it has recently been rezoned so "high rise" apartment blocks can be built near the beach. I'm not looking foward to living in the shadow of these buildings however if the apartments continue to have high retail prices hopefully it will bring some more businesses like cafes and bars to area.
I'd recommend Scarborough for anyone that loves the ocean and the outdoor lifestyle that comes with living close to it.

"Beautiful and exciting - great for retirees, young people and tourists."

Scarborough has a heartbeat and air of adventure for those loving outdoor sports. It has a holiday mood like no other Perth suburb and the tourists enjoy adding Scarborough to their fav places to stay in the West. We have a commercial hub only a couple of ks down Scarborough Beach rd., and ample public transport and cafes.
If one needed to go to Perth CBD - it is 15-20mins away. Fantastic.
