"Great City Lifestyle"

Shelley St on King St Wharf is, overall, a fantastic place to live.
It has all of the benefits of a city lifestyle but is a bit quieter and just enough away from the action to be very comfortable.

Great things:
* Proximity - walking distance to Wynyard Train Station, many Fitness First gyms, restaurants and bars/ clubs galore etc
* Its very quiet - very little traffic goes directly past on the street. Very quiet on weekends during the day. A little bit of noise on Friday and Saturday night from the nightclub Cargo, but most of the building have double-glazing, so it never stops you from going to sleep.
* Taxi's - walk onto the street and never wait more than a minute for a passing empty taxi
* 2x Convenience Stores on the block - great for when you run out of milk
* All other city conveniences within a couple of blocks
* Darling Harbour an easy stroll
* Well maintained - the streets outside get cleaned every morning
* Very, very safe - rarely people on the streets outside, and those you do see are very respectable

Less great things:
* City Grime - no matter how clean you are, the air is a bit polluted and you end up with a layer of black grime over your balcony. Affects interior walls also. Requires vigilant cleaning. Also affects your skin- so if you are prone to breakouts, be aware that living in the city will not help
* No on-street parking for visitors
* Underground parking - if you have a car space, you need to be vigilant as there are often random cars that will park in your car space. The security firm are very good with this, but it can be a bit annoying when you find someone in your space
* Friday night traffic - the street can take a while to get out of on a Friday night as there is a lot of visitor traffic

Things we have discovered:
* Supermarkets - there is Coles on the corner of King and George Streets - its pretty good and convenient, but carrying a backpack really helps when you have to walk home with the shopping. I'm told there is one at Wynyard, but I haven't been able to find it yet... it's a labyrinth under there!
* Dry-cleaner - a great little place on Erskine St that costs half the price of everywhere else

So, in summary, we love living here, the good parts far outweigh the bad for a young couple.
