Moving from vic to nsw

Hi i am a single mum looking at moving from Victoria to new South Wales. I haven't quite chosen a location however there are definatly two areas that stand out. Shell harbour and coffs harbour. I want to know what the cost of living is like in nsw. I have heard there is a difference with how you do your rego? The rental prices, schooling ect. Is it easy to gain employment? I work in hospitality and tourism.
As I am a single mother i am worried about making the move and not being able to survive. Obviously I will gain employment but it's still worrying .
