Reviews of Station Street, Tempe

"Small, close to transport, too close to highway"

Minimal on-street parking, worsened by function centre use on Saturdays. Not directly under flight path, but high noise from highway and through traffic.

Tempe is a fantastic place to live, a real nice community;

Getting around some unknown facts;
5 minutes drive to Marrickville Metro which has Woolies and an Aldi (and RTA) easy parking. 15
minutes walk. “12” minutes direct line to Town Hall, 10 minutes to Central. If you work in the city and catch the 8.45 train you are at work in the City by 9.00am. It is really funny as I lived in Glebe and the bus used to take 30 minutes! In summer often I knock off just before 4.00 home by
4.15 and sitting at the beach by around 4.30 down at Brighton.

The Bus goes to city, circular quay, Broadway, Newtown. (10 minutes to Newtown) or $12 cab fare
5 minutes drive to Vibrant Marrickville, Earlwood. From Tempe you can get to the beach in
Maroubra, Brighton or Coogee In Under 15 minutes Fox Studios in 15 minutes
To the M5 to go north or west within 5 minutes. Around 15 minutes, to Hurstville, Glebe,
Moorepark / Bondi Junction. Ashfield, Broadway, Harbour Bridge, etc. (try it).
10 minutes max to the airport with NO flight Path at the southern end of tempe (another great
myth) as the flight path is incoming over Sydnenham.

Things to Do for Families around the area
 Tennis Centers minutes walk
 2 Golf Courses 10 minutes walk;
 3 different and beautiful parks within 5 minutes walk
 Sydney’s largest bike route, Follows the canal for miles is down the hill (7 minute bike ride on it to
Brighton Le Sands Beach!).
 Indoor Rock Climbing 5 minutes
 Sydney Trapeze School 5 minutes
 Go carts, in Wolli Creek (5 minutes drive)
 Golf Driving Range Across the Road.
 Sports and Netball Centre, awesome play park
 5 minutes drive to Sydney Park.
 About 10 minutes to Canterbury Ice Rink
 Col Jones Swim Centre.
 10 minutes to Hurstville Swimming Centre (no toll) Roselands, Hurstville.
 5 minutes to Enmore, Newtown, Factory theatre.
 2 Woolworths a Coles and Aldi within 5 minutes.
 Squash Courts, at the Mecure (where Tennis is)
 Canterbury Hurlstone RSL Club (about 10 minutes)
 For cinema’s choice is actually amazing. From here we can drive to Eastgardens, Entertainment Quarter, Broadway, or Roselands in 10-15 minutes. We usually go to Eastgardens. Same for shopping!

Dining/Delivery;
Tempe is uniquely positioned as Newtown, St Peters, Earlwood, Dulwich Hill, Marrickville
restaurants all deliver to here. We can get the best, Greek, Vietnamese, Indian, Thai, Pizza from the innerwest as they are all 5-10 minutes in different directions around us. Something I could not get in Glebe (Eg, Earlwood restaurants don’t deliver to Newtown and Vica Versa.
The best pizza in Sydney is Elvis Pizza (Earlwood).
Best Thai in Sydney is St Peters end of Newtown Thai Patong.
The Southern Cross Hotel is 5 minutes drive up the road and the restaurant bistro is awesome. They
actually also deliver to us also. All of the above are a 5 minute drive for dinner, or $10 cab fare. (or
$3 on the bus). The best Seafood Market is just up the road in Sydenham (one street behind
Sydenham Station). It is a mini seafood markets and half the price of Sydney Fish Markets. It is a
very popular little gem for locals.

The Harp has great Irish Food, German Club, great German food, the newly $1million renovated
Stella Inn is family friendly and has great $10 menu including great steaks.
St George Rowing Club over the bridge is really family friendly. For late night snacks. Dino’s
actually make great burgers, Pide or Pizza. 24 hour services station

For the Drinkers
3 liquorlands within a 3 KM Radius, The wine society, or Dan Murphies is about 7 minutes drive.
2 other bottle shops (Harp and Stella Inn) . Bunnings is 5 minutes away next to the new Sydney
Sunday Markets in Waterloo, with all that other shopping stuff
Some unknown facts;
South Tempe gets very little plane noise and no above flight path traffic. A large majority of
Innerwest flight path is landing and comes over Sydenham (and very north Tempe) We cannot hear
landing aircraft whatsoever. Take off also has to work very hard to bank if you look at the google
map, you can see where we are and where the landing strip points. I get less flight noise here than
anywhere I lived in Sydney in the last 10 years, which included Forest Lodge, Glebe, Ultimo,
Kensington. Tempe Primary and High Schools are great. Several other close schools around . Our
Kids go to Tempe Primary and they love it. It is a great school and the teachers are great. It has
really blossomed over the last 3 years as the area changes, (Which it has so much in the last 3
years).

Things to Come;
Marrickville Water Play Park opens end 2010
Brand New Swimming Complex up the road at Enmore (5 minutes drive max).
Discovery Point due to develop stage 3, Proposed Restaurant Strip along waterfront Dining
Ikea December 2010 great shopping up the road.
Significant development around the area, still undervalued, growth to come.
