"So far away"

I found tapping to be the middle of nowhere and the daily commute to be life absorbing.

"One of the Best Suburbs in Perth (coming from a teen)!"

Living in Perth for almost a decade, I have lived in suburbs like Bullcreek, Burns Beach, Joondalup, Tapping, Currambine and Carramar. Let me just say one thing-Tapping has by far been the best one! Tapping is particularly GREAT for young families as it has such good schools nearby, lots of shops and is very close to the bustling Joondalup. Tapping is close to lots of parks, and you can see many young people waking up early to go for a little morning jog. The neighbours in Tapping are so kind and accomading, always giving a "hi" when we pass each other. Everyone I know has a special place in their heart for Tapping, it is THAT great. The only downside I will say would be the lack of public transport, as the only routes that really pass through here is the 390 and the sometimes the 391 (if it feels like it).

"Vibrant , Family Friendly"

Tapping is a family friendly, northern suburb of Perth situated 27 kilometres north of
Perth's central business district. Only a 10 minute drive to pristine beaches and the
magnificent Indian Ocean, a 30 minute drive to Yanchep National Park where you can get to meet some native fauna and revel in the natural WA bushland. It’s simply a 5 minute drive to Lake Mariginiup and a mere 20 minute journey to the Swan Valley, where you can enjoy the fabulous scenery, local wineries and fresh local produce.Another big advantage of living in Tapping is the access to surrounding parkland areas, particularly Jimbub Park.
Your shopping options are excellent in Tapping with its close proximity to Lakeside Shopping
Centre in Joondalup, arguably one of Perth’s best shopping malls with over 300 stores, plus
cinemas and restaurants. Add to that Carramar Shopping Centre and Wanneroo Central Shopping Centre, Wanneroo Markets and Drovers Market Place are close by.
The children’s education has been well catered for with excellent local schools: Tapping
Primary School, Spring Hill Primary School and St Stephens School Carramar. Other nearby
schools are, St Anthony’s School Wanneroo, Banksia Grove Primary School and St John
Paul 11 Catholic School.
With approximately 3000 homes, Tapping has a population of almost 9000 residents with the
local government area being the City of Wanneroo. It’s a fresh, young suburb and came into being in the late 1990’s. Tapping was chosen as the suburb name in honour of an early settler family in the Wanneroo area, Mr William Tapping who arrived in 1886 with Molly and Dolly Tapping who were long time Postmistresses in Wanneroo.

"AMAZING!!!!"

I came to WA to find our perfect family location to start fresh.
I searched from Rockingham to Yanchep and Tapping was it!!
Beautiful homes, established area, green lawns, new houses but not brand new, parks everywhere, incredible welcoming schools and lovely people.
But the weather and outlook of the area is just unexplainable.
Can not recommend high enough!!

"So much choice to hand"

Just minutes from the new Banksia Grove shops, which have a fabulous selection of new shops, including an Aldi. Then there's Carramar shops also within walking distance with the Duke pub.
Drovers farmers market is only minutes away, with an ndependent butcher and grocery store. The botanical gardens, beautiful walks and cycleways around Lake Joondalup. Joondalup shopping mall and railway station are minutes away. And a fantastic choice of schools, including the high ranking St. Stephens school.
To boot, the house prices are reasonable and there's a nice community feel where house owners take great pride. Tapping is also very safe, ranking in the top 10 safest suburbs in Perth.

"Out suburbs"

Recently sold after living in Tapping for 7 years. I noticed over the past 18 months the area starting to feel a little unsafe. From neighbours houses being broken into, to loud house parties. It's quite a shame really. Teenagers are stating to roam the streets on weekend nights as there is not much to do for them. Serviced by only 1 Transperth bus route, it can be a bit of a pain to get anywhere via public transport. During morning peak will take you around an hour and 20 minutes to get to Perth CBD by car. This is why I ended up moving out of the area.

Great for

  • Parks
  • Pets friendly

Not great for

  • Nothing to do for teenages
  • Only 1 bus service
  • So far that no one will come

Hi Andy, Two retired people considering moving to WA ( for health reasons so climate is vip). We are looking at buying a small apartment/unit in a quiet location close to amenities. Any recommendations ie suburbs etc?

Donald Trump

Hi Winom, the majority of Tapping is a very safe and friendly neighbourhood, most of our neighbours are in fact retired citizens! Tapping is very close to lots of shops (eg. coles, woolies, aldi) and has lots of parks to relax in. If you're not interested in Tapping, I would recommend Ashby which also has a great number of amenities (only a 5 minute-ish drive from Tapping)

"Fantastic Tucked Away Suburb"

My partner and I didn't even know Tapping existed and we have lived in Perth for most of our lives. We drove up there to check out a potential property and were astounded at what we found. Joondalup is a thriving metropolis in its own right, and Tapping is a great tucked away, quiet, suburb not too far from all the action. From our house there are eight schools, three child care centres, a shopping centre, three parks (one directly across from us which is the size of a football field) and the street we live on is quiet to boot. We couldn't be happier with the area, the neighbours or anything else. Plus, there is hardly any crime. I think Tapping is the perfect suburb for families, professional couples and people looking to retire. There's no need to even go to the city unless you work there, and if you do it's only about 40-45 minutes straight down the freeway. We used to live in Success and it takes just as long from there even though Success is closer to the city, probably because the freeway North of the River is so much bigger and there are only 2 ways to get into the city from South and they both involve crossing small bridges. Tapping is great and I would recommend it to anyone.

can you please go into more detail on the best schools ? I am researching areas at the moment and want to know about the schools in tapping, what primary schools do you know about and what high school do the kids go to after as there doesnt seem to be a high school there ?

Andyg

Hi there, three primary schools tapping 4-7, tapping Jnr k-3 and st Stephens k-12. St Stephens is a independant school has two campuses tapping and duncraig, good name , good teachers. Both other tapping schools have good names. I work as an educational consultant and know all schools and would be happy to send my children to any of them.

Donald Trump
Donald Trump

Hi Mumzietwo, some other primary schools that are close by and a tad bit better (in my opinion) are St John Paul II, in Banksia Grove. Being a past student there myself, I have found that it has been one of the most welcoming schools with minimal bullying. A high school option I would recommend would be Joseph Banks Secondary College, also located in Banksia Grove. Me and my siblings have all studied there and have found that some of the best teachers in Perth teach there! Definitely will be sending my children there in the future!
