"Beautiful street on Oakhill Fringe!"

Thackeray Rd is a really nice street to live on. It has lots of period homes that are getting renovated with beautiful gardens. Lots of professionals, retirees and families living in the area, with a few older families with children in there early 20's. There is not much theft here, in fact I haven't heard of any but i'm sure its happened. I think a good security system and a dog will help reduce the risk. Oakhill, Regent and Edwardes park are the best areas of Reservoir, but Regent and Oakhill can be a little pricier than the reservoir average. Same as Preston prices but you just get a better house on a bigger block. Block sizes are usually quite large also, ranging from 500-900m2. This street has lots of houses with character, and after planting lots of trees, i'm sure it will be leafy in the next few years. Its close to Broadway shops, Edwardes Park, recreational centre, cycling centre, and not too far from preston market. For transport you can choose Regent or Reservoir Train station Zone 1, and even have access to the Plenty rd Tram. The worst thing about Thackeray Rd is the look I get when I tell people I live in Reservoir. Reservoir is a very big suburb, and unfortunately the areas near Northland and Cheddar rd give the whole suburb a bad name. This was the case for Thornbury and Preston 5 years ago, but these suburbs reputations have significantly improved now.
Pros
  • Close to transport and amenities
  • family orientated
  • beautiful period homes and house proud neighbours
Cons
  • Can be busy at times.
  • The reservoir is a little ugly with the fencing
