We might be moving from overseas to the Traralgon area and are having doubts between living in Morwell or Traralgon. What are the pro's and con's for both.

Traralgon now has the ambience of a really big urban centre with numerous housing options and a strong retail base. Morwell is only 9km away but has less than half the population and certainly has some tough and run down areas. The south part of the town is very close to the central business area and railway station. Morwell has all the shopping, medical, educational and professional services that you would expect in a town of about 13000. It is a very eclectic mix of people, and as a place to live is what you make of it. There are social issues, but it can only improve.

If you are overseas then I would need to ask more questions as my answers may be irrelevant for you. Which country are you currently in? Are you looking to work in the area? Children or not? Depending on the answers you may also look at other local options such as Churchill or smaller village type towns. It depends very much on what are your expectations and what your needs are.

Traralgon for me! Beautiful place to live with great local shopping, schools, parks and areas to live. Real estate is cheaper in Morwell, but there are reasons for this! Morwell feels like a ghost town and just makes me uneasy safety-wise. It does however have a cinema and a ok shopping centre. They are only 10 mins drive from each other, but they really are such different places!
