What is the council's approach to cutting down or trimming back tall trees in Upwey?

Another consideration for buying locally, as many homes seem to have extremely large trees (>10metres). Not that I dislike trees, just maybe having them a safe height would be nice.

There is a wildfire management overlay across Upwey which along with current vegetation protection overlays require a semi-formal process to remove or significantly trim existing trees. Trees with 10m (I think!) of your house can be trimmed or cut down without a permit and there are similar guides for trees along property boundaries. The permit process is not complicated and if the trees don't fit the criteria above the an arborist report is required to justify their removal.
Removing or trimming large trees can be expensive though so maybe best to enjoy them!!
