City Road

"Classy Area"

As a single professional working in the city who lived here for years, I can tell you that its great for most things. Location is A+ : Transport options, accessibility [ most people just walk to work], entertainment, eating out, etc are all excellent.
This being on the fringe of the CBD makes it accessible yet not as busy as living in the city center itself.

Parks are close by, lots of attractions in the boulevard close by as well.

In the few years i lived there, I there was very very little, if any, crime. Its a very safe area where you can stroll to the river in the middle of the night if you wish. Nice views as well.

Regarding financials, rental values are strong; and yeirlds are great. Good medical facilities at nearby southgate complex.
Parking can be tough- so best to get an apt with a car park.
Although fairly dense in population, residents are considerate and I experienced no issues living there - for more than 3 years.
Neighbourly spirit is ok, can be a bit removed in large cities, but they do have regular community dinners and get-togethers at nearby restaurants. A good way to meet fellow residents.
The southbank area is undergoing a 'beautification' program led by the govt, where more cycling paths, small parks and trees etc are being introduced in the area.
The cost of living is on the same par for all of greater melbourne- not a noticeable difference.
Public transport is excellent- trams very close by, and train station just across the river- close enough but not too close.
Traffic is increasing as the popularity of this area grows, but is still manageable.
Overall, its a classy area- with top restaurants, businesses, and the location close to the city.
Only after I moved out did I realise how good I had it there. I wish I could rewind the clock...
