Asquith Street

"It is getting busier"

Asquith street is essentially a continuation of Chandler Highway - which is an exit for the Eastern Freeway and is also the main way of getting across to the inner northern suburbs such as Fairfield and Northcote.

Asquith Street is mostly abutted by a huge oark area making for a pleasant drive. The street is the route for a bus travelling between Box Hill and the City.

Peak hour on Asquith Street is starting to get very busy. Particularly heading towards the freeway. What is normally a minute or so trip can take up to 20 minutes on some mornings.

Given the street has single lanes each way, there is no parking on the Asquith Street.

McConchie Avenue

"Tranquil suburb close to the city"

McConchie Avenue is in a fantastic location - close to much parkland, bike trails, shopping strips (including Wilsmere Street and High Street), and to buses and trams that travel to varied destinations (including Doncaster Shopping Centre, the city and Box Hill).

The actual street is relatively wide and there are very rarely cars parked on the street as most houses have driveways - this makes for a very attractive street. I understand that most houses are under a single dwelling covenant meaning flats and multi-dwelling blocks are non-existent on this street.

While this street used to be occupied by older people, they have slowly moved out and young families are the predominant family type in this street. There are lots of children often playing on their nature strips. The vibe is friendly. The stability of residents means that you generally get to know your neighbours.

The nature strip is wide though the leafy trees are still quite young. Having said that there is no shortage of birds that can be heard in the mornings - probably thanks to the nearby parkland.
