McMahon Street

"McMahon St, Griffith...Yeah; It's not bad."

We've been in McMahon St since Christmas 2006, and don't mind the ambience of the street, the neighbours seem really friendly although a little aloof. The neighbours that we know are great people.

There's a park within walking distance, also with nearby Collina Ovals only a block away. Distance from the CBD facilities and amenities is an issue. It's a 10 minute drive into central Griffith, with Driver Shopping Centre is a 5 minute drive or 15 minute walk away, however, not all that cost effective to do a weekly shop there, Bread, Milk and Papers, a thumbs up, the Country Oven Bakery is a great meal and Casablanca Cafe, although a little expensive is a great meal, dine-in or take-away. It's also home to a Gym, Hairdresser, and Massage Therapist. Of which I've not yet used.

We have a beautiful view from our sunroom looking at Dudley De Chair lookout and the amazing rockface.

McMahon St is one of the areas in Griffith where with little fuss, you can get Channel 10 reception from Wagga. I have access to all channels no worries.

I have a NEXTG phone that has improved reception, It wasn't too crash hot when we first moved in, however after speaking with Andrew Cotterill from Telstra, It has seriously improved...BUT...Digital phones still have little to no coverage in Collina.

Collina is in need of a larger shopping centre with a Chemist, Larger Supermarket, Newsagent/Lotto, Video Store, and Butcher. With Neo-Collina and Clifton Park/Estate rapidly progressing, and Village Life for the oldies Collina is screaming for such facilities.

Now the darker side of living in McMahon St...

We've had dramas with annoying kids over last summer, throwing eggs at our house late at night, No dramas over winter however...must've been too cold for the whimps! These terrors have thrown eggs leaving a dreadful mess on a number of occasions, They've also damaged a company vehicle, which I had parked on the front lawn, let the tyres down on that same vehicle, and made a general menace while they think nobody's looking. I have an idea who they are and am monitoring the situation. Bored rich kids with nothing to do.

Traffic flow with sweeping bends and nothing really to slow speeding drivers down sees motorists flying along and it will only be a matter of time before a nasty accident happens along Robertson St, (Off McMahon St) A few noisy cars often pass by at times late at night which can be disturbing.

Look, overall...It's a great street with a great mix of people, moreso of a higher income type, where the real estate and cars reflects as such. With a bit of fine tuning Collina is a great place to live.

75/100.
