Caringbah

"Central Caringbah is a dirty ugly place with lots of social issues. Avoid it if u can"

There are many affluent areas in Caringbah but the town centre leaves little to be desired. It has all the amenities u could want but it is very run down and ugly. It is very scary at night, loud sirens, drug problems, vandalism lots and I mean heaps of sirens going all the time. If you have the money don't move near the town centre unless you have to There is no ambiance or beauty in downtown Caringbah. It is downright ugly. It is the Bronx of the shire but I guess it serves a purpose.

Great for

  • Grocery shopping is great
  • Walking distance to ammenities.
  • Book station is a lovely shop
  • Doctors & chemists
  • Access to public transport
  • Great Restaurants, Banks, Post office

Not great for

  • Sirens of constantly ringing down the kingsway
  • Even the police think its hopeless here
  • Feels like u live in the projects
  • Would advise to keep away from the flats west of the station
  • Northside is still the 'downside'
  • Not as peaceful as other suburbs in the shire
  • People not that welcoming

I need to live on the southern outskirts of Sydney for my job which takes me down to Woolongong and Nowra frequently , but my clients are all come from greater Sydney. Caringah seemed to be a good location for me but frankly I was put off by the comments I read on these pages. I decided to check it out for myself ..
I was very impressed. Quite frankly, anyone who complains about Caringbah must have led a very sheltered life. The main shopping area is not daggy and run down....clean shops ...great eateries, nice wide streets and close to the beach. I had no hesitation in signing a lease on an apartment right on kingsway.

I love it

Anglican medieval village fells like back in the 90s, the attitudes of this place doesn't move along with the times. Dodgy as hell with a thin layer of presentable masquerade.
