"Best street in Lidcombe"
This little street on the southern side of Lidcombe has only about twenty houses. It has rear lane access and all the blocks are generous. It is a short stroll to the station and shops, so you can leave your car at home. There is quite a bit of proposed development around this part of Lidcombe which will make this little gem very sort after. Not many of the houses ever come up for sale. Possibly the best street in Lidcombe.

"Best of both worlds"
This street has great houses and a lovely historic feel. The southern end near Railway Ave is the best spot. It is quieter and a short stroll to Newtown station and shops. Recently given a heritage classification for it's historic homes it is a friendly neighborhood in Stanmore's best location.

"Best street on northside"
The best street on the north side would have to be Yillowra street. It is quiet and is intersected with a couple of stop signs which makes it safer. Also it is blocked from direct access to Parramatta Rd which helps to make it more peaceful. It has lots of pretty cottages with well kept gardens. It is a 10 minute drive to Parramatta and you can walk to all those shops that everyone flocks to on the weekends along Parramatta Rd. There is a bus service to the station or an energetic walk.. Good value and away from the busy hub around the station. A street with a lot of potential.
Great for
- Close to city
- Shopping
- Parks
- Affordable property
- Well connected to transport
Not great for
- Needs some massive street plantings to green it up

"Beautiful ashfield park"
The area around Ashfield Park is beautiful, especially Pembroke and Ormond streets which have the perfect aspect. This area is set to go off in price. It has a very historic feel with some fantastic streets and lovely old homes. Great transport and shopping options and very close to the city and Burwood. A suburb ready to boom!

"The best value in the inner west"
Lidcombe is well into a transformation phase with many new homes being built and young families moving into this once working class suburb. With some extensive unit development close to the station it offers many options for those wanting an affordable home within a half hour trip to the centre of Sydney. The rail link is excellent, offering easy access to the city and Parrramatta. It has moderate climate, not the oppressive heat of many outer suburbs. Land size is generous and well serviced by council. The shopping strip is well laid out and lends itself to being turned into a restaurant destination, especially on the southern side where a series of early shopfronts are still in use. It could be a very exciting outdoor dining area with some imagination. As it is is still has some charm. Some cute little streets are Bernard and Raymond on the southern side which are both within walking distance of the station. It is a great place to live with great public schools. Dooleys has taken over the northern side but they do provide local employment. This place is a real estate hot spot!
Great for
- Close to CBD and M5 and M4 motorways
- Great public transport
- Safe to walk around even in the evening alone
- Lidcombe Power Centre
Not great for
- No Supermarket - yet ( But that will change this year

Woolworths, Aldi and Kmart will be open in mid 2015 in Parramatta rd across the street from Costco where Ananconda and Spotlight are now.
Its a stretch to call Strathfield the inner west, dont know about anything west of Homebush West. I believe this forms part of the Cumberland region along with Clyde, Auburn and Granville.
With the spreading out of Sydney, suburbs around Lidcombe or the central parts of Sydney are so tightly connected with the inner west. So to us the new migrants, here we call inner west.
"History just a stroll away"
It has a real sense of the past as you walk the streets and realize how much has been preserved from the developers keen sense of how to make a buck. There are great streetscapes especially around Cardigan and Stafford Streets. Check out the little gardens along the gutters of Ravenue Lane near Cardigan Street where pride in making the lanes more attractive is taking hold. The lanes are great for a wander where some old dunnies can still be seen.
