Burt Street

"Noisy and unpleasant"

I rented here for six months before I had had enough. The noise from Milton Rd was appalling, although you eventually get used to it (kind of like a hideous, polluting ocean outside your window). Traffic is often bad, even on the residential side streets, thanks to rat-runners and parking-seekers. There are no grocery stores nearby, only a meagre sprinkling of average restaurants. Even the video store has closed down now. Probably this street's only drawcard is its very close proximity to Auchenflower train station.

Miskin Street

"Busy street in a nice, almost-inner-city suburb"

Perhaps my review will be a little biased, since my bike was stolen from my garage last week. Still, that was the first incidence of crime I've experienced in the 2+ years I've lived on Miskin St, which is telling I think. Traffic is bad during peak hours, but otherwise a nice and quiet street. No shortage of rowdy neighbours on Friday and Saturday nights, but everyone is pretty reasonable about it. Toowong Village (Coles and Woolies, some decent coffee shops, trains and buses) is only ten minutes walk down the hill, and the 470 bus line runs straight up Sherwood Rd, bisecting Miskin St. Bike access is excellent, with marked lanes connecting up to the Western Freeway bikeway and Sylvan Rd. Anzac Park is a short walk away, for all of your barbequeing and outdoor-fresh-air-nature-embracing needs.
