Lorne Street

"An "Excellent Tree Lined Inner City Living Street With An Abundance Of Period Houses""

Lorne Street is centrally located in Moonee Ponds and is considered by many to be in the Top Ten streets within the suburb (around 7 to 8 out of 10).

It is serviced well by Train, Tram and Bus and has two shopping strips within a 3-5 minute walk either side of the street (Puckle street and Union Road).

The range of amenities are excellent. Here are some of the attractions:

1. Puckle Street
2. Highpoint Shopping centre
3. Flemington Racecourse
4. Queens Park
5. 10 – 15 min drive to the City
6. 10-15 minute drive to the Airport
7. City link access
8. DFO (Essendon)
9. Excellent choice of Cafes & Restaurants in Puckle Street/Union Road and Mt Alexander Road.
10. Excellent Childcare facilities dotted in and around the suburb.

The street contains a range of period houses from the Victorian, Edwardian and California Bungalow era with a mix of single and double front homes as well as extended and renovated homes (both single and double front).

The neighbours are very friendly and there is the traditional Annual Cup Eve (Melbourne cup) barbecue held in the street each year which gives you a chance to catch up with all the neighbours.

Overall, an excellent family oriented street.

Yes, I have to agree with the reviewer - Lorne Street in Moonee Ponds is in my top 5 streets in Moonee Ponds. It has beautiful period houses and there is not one block of flats or inappropiate development in the street (very rare these days). This is because of the Heritage Overlay that protects it's character. There is a community shopping strip in Union Road within a 1 minute walk which is real asset to those who love great coffee. Private schools are just a 5 minute drive away and Citylink access couldn't be easier. The street is very tightly held with few homes coming onto the market.
