"Quiet, Friendly, Beautiful!"

Myself and my Fiancé bought in Joanne Street 2 years ago. We have loved every minute of living here!

I have never lived in a friendlier street in my life. I remember one evening I rushed home to try and waterproof my garage and found my neighbour who I had barely met at this stage already creating a water diversion for me so that it did not run into the garage. You don’t get that kind of help everywhere! It is a house proud street where all the residents keep their yards tidy and looking great. There are a number of beautiful Pride of India trees in this street 3 of which at our place, and during the warmer months add a great splash of colour to the street. You need to be a dog person, as there are quite a few in the street, and they like to talk. Does not bother us at all but can annoy people who are not used to it.

As for the area, you are in close proximity to everything you could need. There are heaps of outlets and retail alike. If you are the renovating type it is HEAVEN. More tile, flooring, paint, taps, fittings etc shops than you can poke a stick at! Not to mention not one but TWO Bunning’s within 5 minutes of each other. It keeps getting better by the day as well. More and more businesses are choosing to move in to the Underwood shopping district!

There are some really great restaurants in the area as well. Antarctic Circle run by Charlie is our favourite restaurant by far anywhere, amazing service, brilliant Japanese cuisine with a western touch, and affordable. If you are in the mood for Thai, The Thai Orchid, the first Thai restaurant in Brisbane EVER is just a quick drive away and has the best Thai anywhere by far. Elios, a small Italian place in Underwood is owned and run by locals and has the best pizzas, is also a favourite of ours. Nightlife can be had down at the Glen Hotel, however that is about your only option in the area.

Transport is a little hard if you do not have a car, however with the bus way not far away and Kuraby train station a short drive there is options. A train in to Brisbane City will take you about half an hour.

Facilities wise, there are plenty! Medical, schools, child care and the like, all within walking distance. Although one thing that is a pain is the single split wheelie bin. We are only a couple and we over fill it every week. Although my local councillor tells me that is changing early 2011. Can’t wait for that.

All in all we love it here and don't plan on moving anytime soon!

This is a great area, but it can be expensive. Housing in the area is trending on the more expensive and larger side of the budget. Very good quality homes that are well looked after are more common than not. In the older part of underwood, homes are still larger than average and of a better quality than most surrounding suburbs. There are still pockets of land available, but cheap land is running out fast. Some blocks of land can be found for $400,000, but they're not large and they won't last long. Check out www.realstate.com.au and happy home hunting!

"A great palce to start a family!"

I lived in Coopers Plains (and adjoining suburb Salisbury) for over 20 years.

I personally love this area and find it very convenient to everything. You have accesses to all the necessary stuff....

Schools
Shops
Public Transport
Child Care
Medical
Parks and recreational areas.

It is only a stones throw from Garden City shopping centre and the south east bus way to take you into the city. Coopers Plains train station is also now one of the best on the line having been recently upgraded and now a major stop for Gold Coast trains. Nightlife leaves a little to be desired, but you are but 10 mins drive from pubs, bars, restaurants and cafes.

I have had my car broken into, however that said. I would gladly live here for the rest of my life.
