Viewbank

"Leafy surrounding and peaceful suburb to raise family"

We live in a leafy location overlooking the parkland along Hendersons Road in Viewbank.

We have been living in Viewbank for more than 6 years now raising our four beautiful children with great surrounding, biking along the Plenty Bike Trail and taking a walk along the leafy street of Viewbank.

Prior to having children we lived in Carlton, love it there, however once we have our first child, we decided to find a place where our child can play safely and have lots of open space. Viewbank is one of our top choice.

This is an exceptionally great place to stay considering great schools in Banyule Area i.e. Viewbank Primary and Secondary. Our four children love these two great schools with great teachers. Scout, tennis, picnic and biking are all within reach in this small patch of leafy suburb.

Great for

  • Tree line
  • Prized school zone
  • Great view and vista

Hi Jenny, We are considering moving to Viewbank/Heidelberg/Rosanna area (from Mill Park). It seems to have great reviews from residents. We have 3 young children (Grade 1, Kinder and 2.5yrs). Can you give me some insight into the schools/kinders? Are Goodstart Rosanna and Heidelberg good Kinders? And how about Heidelberg Preschool? And have you heard much of Heidelberg & Banyule Primary?
Is the traffic from Viewbank-Fitzroy/City horrendous? Or bearable?
Sorry for all the questions but it's good to hear from someone local.
Thanks,
Sarah

Hi SarEmS, We moved to Heidelberg pre-kids and moved to Viewbank once #2 was due to arrive. So from our own experience and friends I can say that the public schools in this area are great (we are at Viewbank and also hear good things about Banyule, Heidelberg and Golf Links) and are very popular hence they pretty much all now have ceilings/caps. The kinders are also great (in particular Viewbank & Heidelberg). Kinder programs at childcare one of my friends pulled her daughter from Heidelberg and moved her into one of the local kinders as she didnt like the kinder program (her son had been there the year before). Traffic city bound at peak times is not pretty, my husband works in the CBD so trains it in 20 minutes from Heidelberg. Hope that helps.
