Its full of apartments but its green, tree-lined and there are a lot of birds making it a lovely sounding suburb. The train station is close by and there is a bakery, green grocery and convenience store for purchases as well as cafes and restaurants.

The closer to Parramatta Rd the better because its only a 10 minute walk to Ramsey Steet, Haberfield with all the fantastic cafes and restaurants. We're a 10 minutes walk in the other direction to the hub of Ashfield which provides for good grocery shopping, though retail therapy isn't the best as Ashfield Mall is really in need of a facelift.

Chandos Street is tree lined and people friendly. On street parking can sometimes be a little tricky with spots filling fast on weekends. Sadly there can be a lot of rubbish and dumped unwanted goods.

Aside from the planes flying low overhead, Cavendish Street is a fantastic street to live on. Its close to the train station without being on the rail line; the IGA is close by for those last minute emergency purchases; the street is tree-lined and there is plenty of on street parking (when Newington isn't hosting a rugby game)! We used to live in Stanmore and I miss it so much! We needed to get a bigger place but couldn't afford a house in the street - if one became available we'd move back in a second!!
