Gristock Street

"Gristock St memories"

I grew up in the street in the 1960's as part of the baby boom. It was full of kids and we played cricket in the back yards and in the street, walked along the wooden fences separating the properties and climbed trees. No. 8 had a huge mulberry tree and I remember plucking and eating the mulberries with purple stains running down my shirt front. We played down in the gully which is now Lancaster St.
As the street is on a slight ridge, we felt the cooling breezes from the Bay.
Few people had cars so we caught the bus into town at Chatsworth Road or walked up to Cavendish Road.
Looks like new generations of families are moving in and I'd love to hear their experiences of living in the street.
