Ormond
"Accessible and safe"
It's not a cheap place to live but considering its safe, family-friendly, abundant in heritage and 12km from the CBD, I think Ormond is good value for money. Neighbouring Glen Huntly, for example, doesn't tick all those boxes, yet is more expensive.
We moved to the area 6 months ago when we purchased our first family home, and so far we're really happy here.
Great for
- McKinnon school zone
- 5km from Brighton beach
- Lovely heritage homes
Not great for
- North Rd shopping strip is really outdated
- No express trains stop at Ormond station
- No walking tracks apart from a small park

Murray Road
"Safe, quiet, family street"
It's very residential. The houses are mostly inter-war era Californian bungalows and Edwardians. The residents are mostly families with young kids and older people. Kids walk to and from school.
Great for
- Walk to Ormond and McKinnon stations
- McKinnon Secondary zone
- Good demographic
Not great for
- Railway line is not very well serviced
- Closest supermarkets are in Bentleigh
- Backs of some properties are facing Murray Rd
