Wyndham Street

"Noisy, underground train lines and dirt"

I have lived here for the past year; I paid a fairly substantial sum for a 2 bed apartment ($595 a week). The apartment is wonderful, great size, great fittings but both bedroom windows look out to Wyndham St, which is noisy, very noisy. So you can't open windows when you sleep unless you have ear plugs, plus the dirt that comes in from the traffic is terrible, black dust.

There is also a train line that runs directly under the apartments (27 Wyndham St and surrounding apartments will be affected I'm guessing). The trains run from 5am to 1am and they also send quarry trains through as well. Sometimes the building vibrates. If it's been raining then the train noise and vibration is even worse. It took me at least 3 months before I began to get used the train noise.

Another issue is that most of the apartment’s lounge balconies face into a courtyard which means that balcony conversations rebound and echo around for everyone to hear. I haven’t been able to use my balcony as the neighbours complain of the noise.

I would recommend finding somewhere off the main road and away from the train line, unless of course noise and dirt don't really bother you.
