Indica Close
Editors Choice

"Central to Everything"

We lived in this street for 6 years and it's where we started our family.
Indica Close is 5 minutes walking distance to Tuggerah Westfield with its shops, cinemas, gymnasiums x2, Medical Centre, library ,iChipmunk's indoor play centre, dentist, pre-school / daycare centre and much more!! It's a good 15 minute walk to Tuggerah Station which will take you straight to Sydney or Newcastle.
Indica sits at the high end of Tuggerah which is set in a bowl-like formation. Some of the lower streets are a little flat and hot with no breezes to be had in the summer. There are some lovely views of the mountains and the bellbirds can be heard all day.I often saw Sea Eagles from my kitchen window, lots of pelicans circling overhead, owls, possums, magpies and other wildlife as the bush completely surrounds the suburb.
My husband works in Sydney so being on the freeway in less than 1 minute and then in Sydney in about 45 minutes was a huge bonus for us.
Indica Close has a bus service that goes straight to the Catholic primary school (St Cecelia's ), the HighSchool (St Peter's) and the local State schools. It is a one minute walk (if that) to Tuggerah Primary school which is set amongst rainforest on The Pacific Highway and although a bit crowded has a good reputation for caring. The local Pre-School is also a 5 minute walk but is situated on the outside of Westfield which may or may not be for you. The coast has childcare centres galore though with at least 5 close to Indica , including cheap council run ones in Wyong (near the Catholic school) and Berkley Vale. There are new ones in the Tuggerah Industrial Estate area and Tumbi Umbi and Ourimbah also offer many choices. There are also the alternative Montessori , Steiner etc....
Traffic noise is completely absorbed and hidden from sight by the bush and farmland that lie between Indica Close and the freeway. There's some noise from the Pacific Highway during busy school times and what the Coast considers to be peak hour ;)
During our 6 years in Indica we had absolutely no incident of crime or feeling unsafe. Our two children played outside and as it's a cul-de-sac were able to play with other children in the front yard too. The street has a mix of old and young families, single storey and two storey homes. Some homes are rented and others owned.
At Christmas time Tuggerah is one of the best decorated suburbs and I used to enjoy when everyone started to put up their lights (not me though! haha)and the area felt festive. You can sit in your car with the kids outside Coles and watch the sunset and cows in their paddock while hubby gets the groceries :) It's just a little hidden gem that is located close to everything. A lovely safe neighbourhood. Not by any means a grand or posh area, but very safe, family and retiree friendly, and a spot that's affordable and handy when wanting to walk to the shops, school or pre-school with a pram!
