Keevers Lane

"Fond memories"

My late grandma was Ivy Keevers and who the lane was named after. I spent nearly every Christmas holiday at grandma's house which backed onto Keevers Lane since I was born in 1957 and have very fond memories of Gosford. From the top step at the front door of her house you could watch steam trains all day and see right down to Brisbane Waters. My last major vist to Gosford was in 1994 for grandma's funeral where the family gathered at the old house at 281 Mann St. I visited Gosford again in 2008 and was dissapointed to see that most of the retailers had moved out to Erina Fair. Mann Street, The Imperial Centre and Gosford Central used to offer a great variety of shops with a bustling, exciting atmosphere. I think what saddened me more is that my grandma, grandfather and dad (who was born in Gosford) have all passed away, and the house where I spent many happy times has been demolished and a multi storey building is in its place.
